Bigot..An intolerant adherent of a religious creed or opinion.
I am not religious nor am I intolerant. However, does cutting a debate on JW doctrine short by calling me a bigot make me a bigot or is the JW the bigot?
sadly, at times, we lose good posters because we have an acrimonious spirit.
i wonder whether we might actually debate or argue, simply for the thrill of trying to outdo the other person(s).

I would say about 90% of the people on this board are reasonable and understanding. Anyone who writes threads that are in an argumentative tone and vicious should find another thing to do with their lives and stay off this board.
I enjoy what the 90% have to say and I bypass the idiots. It would be more informative if more JWs would write on this board. I am not a JW but I would certainly like to hear what they have to say. The only problem is that they seem to answer simple questions with a sermon which does not appeal to me. Listening to interpretations of the Bible is not very interesting to me as they are only interpretations and as such are proned to excessive scrutiny and debate causing a limitless amount of verbage leading to never never land.
With all the information contained in this board there appears to be very little concrete info on the financial aspects of the WT. So far I have info on the oil transaction and the bomb motor and some property they have bought in Brooklyn and the potential move of some of the WT facility to the North. What city, who knows. This seems to be so little for a multi-billion international organization. Surely there must be some insider sources that are reliable with some read juicy stuff. I read that the Patterson phone book was available but I could not find it. I requested info on the subject with no response. I am trying to assemble all I can on the business end of the WT with little success. Perhaps there is nothing there. Maybe.

i was raised non-religious.
i don't call myself an atheist as such because i don't like to label anyone, but i don't actually believe in god (though i am christian in background, and several branches of family family are roman catholic).

You asked for it babe. What do you do with it. Perhaps to put the final nail in the coffin is to take all the salient points in this thread and present them to this guy for replys. If he comes out with the typical persecution complex that JWs usually come up with, Dump him.
i know us men aren't the most clever people on earth but sometimes we say things that are meant to be a compliment and we get slammed.. my ex-wife was saying once, that she thought her hair was getting thicker and i, in my logical way was trying to figure out if this could really be true.
i then thought about the fact that she had recently lost wieght and without thinking any further i blurted out.... "your hair is not getting thicker your head is not as fat.".
this is a true story.

Right on. There is a sucker born every minute. If the number of suckers exceeds the number of enlightened, the Watchtower will survive. That is more likely if the structure is changed with time. You will notice how they are slowly lightning up in some areas.
for me, i don't have "remnants".
i am still, i realize, about 90 percent jw.. however, i'm curious as to what other still have "left" from the org...for example, i am still politically neutral for the most part, and would not support any war and would rather die than take up arms.
this may be mostly my own pre-jw personality, but at this point in time, its so difficult to know what i am, even who i am..... do any of you still have (or maybe cling to, which may be true in my case) jw beliefs or tendencies, or have you gotten rid of them all?
A lot of the JW beliefs are sensible and are not necessarily invented by theWT.
Blood: If I am going to have an operation I will definitely so something to have some blood (mine or some comparable match) so that I am less apt to get some desease from a transfusion should it be required. In emergency cases, the most available, compatible donor is acceptable to save a life. Red Cross blood is acceptable.
Beliefs: All belief systems on this planet were invented by man. As man is not infallible the written word that is accepted by all the religious groups, including JW, are not completely reliable. Without a doubt, there are indeed many words of wisdom in the Bibles, Koran etc which can and should be applied living in a society. JWs and many other religions follow the Theocratic War Doctrine of accepting lieing under certain circumsstances is unacceptable.
God's Word: Having a group of people to determine what is the intent of God's word as it is written in the Holy Book has a double whammy. First, I doubt if God came down at election time to determine who should speak for him and how do we know that this book has anything to do with God? This practice of shunning in the JW Cult would not be acceptable to the God I speak of.
War: Most people on this planet are not in favor of war. There is no doubt that there has been wars started by a misunderstanding by fallible human beings. The Iraq war was borderline. I for one agreed with stopping Saddam because there was enough evidence to justify stopping him before he became unstoppable. If these tyrants were let go to do as they wished this world would be ruled by tyrants. Would that be better? The first people to be affected would be JWs and the like. Notice that htere are more JWs in the "free" countries of the world than in the others. Can you emagine JWs in Saudi Arabia?
one of the things that used to annoy me in the new testament was the "believe in jesus" message.
any explainations seemed fuzzy at best so i decided to take a run at it from behind and find the definintion of an un-believer.here is what i came up with and i welcome other opinions.
many of the people around jesus were jews, they walked with him, talked with him, listened to his teachings and witnessed his miracles.
