A Religion of Assumptions
by Cold Steel inthe jehovah's witnesses are a strange cultural phenomenon and one that has always puzzled me.
members call it "the truth" and, more boldly, "jehovah's organization.
" but many of those on the outside remain dumbfounded.

So you believe in the Bible and you don't know who Jesus is.
I have a similar problem understanding the contemt of the Bible. Are you aware that Jesus did not contribute anything to the Bible. It is all he said what he said. Have you ever wondered what the going concensus was before the time the Bible was written? THe time of the mystics. The times of Zoroastrians and the like. If you read some of the works that were written long before the time of Christ, there were events that are identical to the events of the new testament. Very interesting. Plagerism maybe?

becoming a jehovah's witness
by pcecilia inhello all who may read this, i am in the midst of writing a story, and a character who has appeared in the story is a jehovah's witness... i am attempting to gain a better understanding of the religion and its practitioners so as to present witnesses in a fair light... i am of no religious affiliation, but i assume that anything that a person believes is valid as long as they have put it through much consideration and thoughtfulness...
) of you are ex-witnesses, but i would like to know about what first attracted you to the religion to begin with... was it just passed down in your family, or did you make a conscious choice to become a witness?
if so, for what reasons?

I do not believe for one minute that the Rutherfords or the Russels el al, did not concock certain aspects of this cult to keep the group together. Do you think for one minute that the founding fathers believed that people would not qualify to go to the great beyond if they had a birthday party, made friends with a df'd person, read the c of c, celebrated Christmas, gave blood to their dying child and on and on. The organizers did purposly insert these regulations in their literature and documentation, by manipulating the words of the bible to suit their agenda. THis whole thing is a setup from the beginning as evidenced by the continued changes they have made through the years. Why so called intelligent people will swallow this garbage is beyond comprehension.

Did CNN's Nancy Grace Cross The Line???
by SWALKER inshe is now a journalist, not a prosecutor in a courtroom!.
fla. mother?s suicide snarls missing child caseactions of cnn show host during interview condemned by family memberupdated: 6:36 p.m. et sept 13, 2006leesburg, fla. - two weeks after telling police that her son had been snatched from his crib, melinda duckett found herself reeling in an interview with cnn?s famously prosecutorial nancy grace.
before it was over, grace was pounding her desk and loudly demanding to know: ?where were you?

She went way over the line. In the last several years the media have taken the position of trying to solve crimes or alleged crimes on television. Nancy is one of the most arrogant of the lot. Solving crimes is up to the police and the judicial system not TV announcers. The recent beating a photographer got recently for sticking his camera where he was not invited was another case of unwaranted intrusion in other peoples lives. Such intrusion should be by invitation only.

So is America finally getting wiser? Who still believes this nonsense?
by Jourles inwashington (afp) - for the first time since it began, a majority of americans believe the iraq war is not part of the war on terrorism, as us president george w. bush keeps insisting it is, according to a poll.. fifty-one percent of the 1,206 adults surveyed in the august 17-21 new york times/cbs news poll believed the two wars were separate, while 44 percent saw a link between them.
in june, opinion was split evenly at 41 percent..
rest of the story here.

More than ten years ago, long before 9/11, the USA intelligence knew of the massive migration of Islam to the UK, France, Germany, Netherlands, China, India, Canada, USA, Mexico, South America, Australia etc. THen came the bombings in embassies throughout the world. HIstorically, the USA prefers to have any "warring" with hostile countries, outside of the North American continent. The decision was to impregnate the middle East with a democratic government and Iraq was and is the most suitable at this time, particularly having finished a miniwar over Kuwait. If we are able to make this work, a split among the Arab nations would be in effect softening the ability of the terrorists to operate. Furthermore, the main war is still outside the continent. Look how quickly we reacted when Castro was threatening to have nuclear weapons. All the reteoric that is going on in the media is just a bunch of politics, nothing more nothing less.
Castro and his regime has been reduced to a pussy cat and should be returned to normal dipomatic relations immediately.

Appearing Now at Bethel!

Thank you to all who offered the descriptions of conditions at Paterson. Before entering into this organization my daughter was a quick learner and a go getter in everything she did. She would actually yawn when she was "forced" into a situation that was going too slow and did not keep her attention. I can imagine her going nuts at the thought of doing mundane things that did not keep her thinking. Goes to show. Thanks again.

THIs is a subject that appeals to me as my daughter is in there and I would like to know what is going on in her life. Instead , I am getting the word of a lit of bitter people relieving their anxioties. Are there any people out there that can give an unbios description of what goes on. Blondie where are you? You seem to be the one of the most informative people on this thread. I am desperate for some solid info on what goes on in the world of the Bethelites at Paterson,NY.

Boycotting Israel
by Crumpet ini see that quite a few are following the dreadful attacks in lebanon.
today i went swimming to cool off with mr c and we were discussing what ways we could make our disapproval and anger at israels actions felt, besides being human shields.
(mr c reckons i'm big enough to stop one missile, but would be pretty useless after that.

BOYCOTT ISRAEL IS THE MOST ASSININE SUGGESTION I HAVE EVER HEARD. ANYONE SUGGESTING SUCH A "SCHEME" IS EITHER LIVING IN A CAVE SOMEWHERE IN THE WILDERNESS OR WERE NOT BLESSED WITH A WORKING BRAIN.
