Remember that evolution is a theory and religion (God) is a belief system. Theories go on for ever based on new findings as time goes on. Belief systems is usualy based on who brought you up and/or who did the best job of convincing you what to believe. Yes, you can believe in God and follow the theory of evolution. Some religious groups would frown on the mix. Evolution is based on facts found as well as opinions that are based on fact obtained by observation. |

Is there proof of Evolution out there? help needed
by trumangirl ini've faded, but i still would like to have faith in a creator/god.
but i am really not sure if my belief in god is the result of being brought up a jw and being stuck with a particular world-view.
the best thing i can do is challenge myself by reading some material that explains proof of the evolution, but i have not seen anything that does this yet, i've only seen explanations of the theory, not the proof.

Is the Bible Just B.S.?
by shamus indo you think that god enjoys killing people?
it sure sounds like it to me; jw doctrine more or less scared me into thinking that god is going to kill all persons whom he/she thinks is not doing his will.
my question is, how can god kill someone for not being "christian", or following the bible out of sheer ignorance?

Agreed. Also there is an enormous amount of writings, that are not called "Bible", by people of wisdom since the beginning of time. A lot of it is duplication from a previous era. If we only had another lifetime to absorb all that has been written.

Drop all concepts of god,,, and then you have god..,,,Without concept,,,you have god,,, with concept,,,, you can not have god. For god by nature has to
transcend nature,,so god is not natural,,,for there is no natural,,, only "concepts" of natural.

As far as I know, ALL religions are man made and there is plenty of proof out there. They are part of the belief systems out there that have permeated the world over the centuries. Trying to prove all the items related to the existance of a religion is a waste of time. The final answer always returns to "God" did it or it is inspired by God. That is considered proof. Of course the most ridiculus conclusion is that the Governing body of the Jehovah's Witnesses and/or the Watch Tower are the sole source of the truth as communicated to them from God beats them all.
God has nothing to do with our everyday life. Praying to God for help is a total waste of time from a practical point of view. Belief systems do not mix with the practical things of life. If you are a believer in the powerof prayer, by all means, pray your head off if it gives you some satisfaction. For me it must make sense and I must see the fruits of my prayer to God.

Well, quotes, it apears that there are not too many xJWs who can help you. I agree with most that you could supply a little more background. Perhaps you could start by getting more information then ask for the help. I am not a JW so I really do not qualify as an expert in the cult.
If I knew my daughters email address perhaps she could help him. She seems to be in this thing up to her pretty eyeballs and drowning.

You say that the JWs do not "zap" people into joining the Watch Tower. I beg to differ. There are a lot of gullible people out there and I say with a great degree of certainty that my daughter was "zapped" into joining that crappy outfit. Only the gullable and the innocent give way to the JW methods of converting people to that cult. My daughter is an educated woman and she had a lot going for her until the Jehovahs witnesses used her then boyfriend toconvince her that the JW way is the only way. She apparently was told not to discuss the matter with her parents until the very end at which time it was too late. She now is in Patterson NY cleaning toilets and washing floors and I assume she now has declared extreme poverty as she makes about $90 per month, pays no social security. If this continues, she can look forward to retirement living at the mercy of the Watch Tower with no money from the SS Administration because she did not pay into it. I said it before in this thread that Religions need to be defined and those whose doctrines are damaging our society should be unqualified to operate as a ligitimate "Religion". Door to door prosthalatizing should be outlawed.

Boy this is a popular thread. The simple answer is to define the word "Religion" all the rest is talk.
Not covered is that I for one do not want to pay the taxes that the Watchtower should be paying. Included are all the others such as, Mormons, Moonies, etc.,

Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother,"let me take the speck out of your eye", when there is a log in your own eye?

Scooby:
I recently sent a message to the editor of our local newspaper and the crux of the letter was about the Russian Ban on the JWs. My basic question was "we should be defining the word religion or religious organization" before any legislation is passed to "Ban".
As I see it the ban on the Watchtower and the Jehovahs Witnesses is not religion but a ban on effects that the organization's doctrines has on the members. In your outburst you failed to mention that the practices of the JW cult are the issue. Shunning members for exercising their freedom to reject their teachings and allowing innocent children to die because of these doctrines is the issue. Any "religious group" that follows these habits should be cause for governments to start defining religion and reject those that do not reenforce the family unit. Damaging the family unit through the practices of shunning and banning blood transfusions is cause for a government or people as a whole to not accept the Jehovahs Witnesses as a religion under the constitution. That should apply here in the good old USA.
