That was great Eman. I have a British friend that I correspond with a great deal and we do often laugh at what we say to eachother.
I noticed that if someone is "hitting on you" to a British person you would say that they are "chatting you up". British also use the term "whilst" and I use "while" that one is wierd.

the kids are very keen on having a christmas tree and some decorations.. is there any date these are supposed to go up or are we going to look really silly having it up mid november ?
We have a faux tree but it looks very real. Now I don't really mind when it goes up. When we did real trees, I got it up late and down the day after christmas. Took six months to be sure all needles were gone. No thanks. For the scent of pine, pot pourrie goes a long way.
I don't think it will be up until about December 13, husband's birthday is just before then so I'd like to make it less christmassie for that. By the 13th, however, my nat king cole christmas cd goes on! Yahoo. I love that.
i don't think i will never join another organized religion.
that being said however, i have enjoyed going on occasion to non-denominational churches, watching the band play music, and the speaker.

I decided it was easier to pretend religion does not exist. But I have to remember sometimes. My daughter had her friends all here and they wanted me to read the tarot for them. Sure thing, sounds fun but then the brakes went on....do I really want some mom mad at me cus she suddenly remembers that she considers herself christian? And so wants to yell at me for trying to bring satan in to her daughter's lives? Oh one must be careful.

I've made wonderful friends with people on the boards. Dragon is right thought, just when you think you know someone, they can attack. One can get blindsided. I think when two people disagree, it's like the temperature rises much quicker on the internet. Perhaps because we read animosity in a post when it isn't really there but is implied to the reader because they see disagreement.
Well, unless, of course, someone DOES come out and call you a "fucking idiot"...that is, at least, very blunt and can be taken only one way.
I think you can get good at seeing the sorts that like to bait people. They'd be the ones I keep very far away. Not to shun them, but to be "aware" and "careful". Fights are painful, been there done that.

Just think of all the watchtowers they are dictating via holy spirit. And books, and listening in on all those judicial meetings so they can, again, impart holy spirit. And giving their attention to every jw with a part on the school, as well as give fine words for the elder overseeing the school so he says warm fuzzies and ends it all with "I'm gonna mark you good on that"
Come to think of it, being drunk does sound a heck of a lot better doesn't it.
after reading many posts on this site, it seems we all share the same types of fears.while witnesses, some were petrified to give a talk in the theocratic ministry school.
others were sick to their stomach to go out in door to door work.
if the elders said that they wanted to talk to you after the meeting, fear would set in throughout the whole night.

after the 9-11 events, many were scared of what would happen next, and returned to the meetings.

Sure this would be different for everyone depending on their "time served"
For me, so far....it's been looking and hearing Dubs now (I am often in their company whether I want it or not thanks to mom) When I hear them, watch them, drive by the conventions and see all those drab skirts and short heels so running to and from the bathroom with kids will be easier....man, I just cringe that I was "THAT". THAT was me. I remember likeing assembly days...cus there was a cafe across the street and I could get a good chai tea. Wow, easily satisfied for my saturday wasn't I?
i personally feel that the single biggest problem in modern society, is the lack of taking personal responsibility for our own actions.
i think that as a culture we have allowed people the room to make excuse after excuse, and accept these as something that should be legit.
well w e see kids raised in families that love them, feed them, take care of them to the best of their means.
Just can't help it.....the government is to blame for some of it. I totally think so. We are breeding a society that feels it is entitled to hand outs. The incentives are amazing. I've seen it myself, go off get pregnant at 16 and you get housing, daycare, and schooling. I watched my sister in law milk the system for years.
Talk about not taking responsibility. You don't have to in this country, thanks to programs funded by you and me.
