What piece of WT literature is worth holding onto, or have you kept? Why?
by losingit ini have basically thrown away all of my bound volumes and loose wt and awake magazines.
i kept some bpoks, the insight to the scriptures, god's love, the reasoning book, and daniel's prophecies (this was my favorite) .
i held onto insight to the scriptures after reading some of ray franz's book, crisis of conscience.

When I read that paragraph I immediately though, "WTH ! I thought we didn't believe in the rapture and looked down on other religions for thst belief. " I'm still dumbfounded by that drastic change.

When was 'Prince of Peace' published? Is it on the cd-rom? You're right, I don't think mostly witnesses ate aware that's what they're required to believe. I also heard something about a book just on the Holy Spirit. Also on CD- Rom? Curious bc my (ex?) husband was told to read it bc it's inspiring.

I got rid of my Revelation book by accident. I wanted to hold onto it because I thought a lot of the content was outrageous. But I ended up putting it in a box of books I gave to a used book store.

I held onto Insight to the Scriptures after reading some of Ray Franz's book, Crisis of Conscience. The other books were more from sentimental reasons. I really studied that Reasoning book. I wanted to be an excellent publisher and actually use the Scriptures effectively. Are there any books that you kept? Why?

A new lesson from Caleb's mom...
by cedars in...totally freak out and drop something if your child fails to say "please.".
http://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/family/children/become-jehovahs-friend/videos/please-thank-you/.
the woman is clearly a nervous wreck, and very easily offended.. if this is her reaction to caleb forgetting his manners, i shudder to think how she will cope if she ever finds him doing drugs.. .

Have The Witnesses Changed All That Much In The Last Few Years?
by minimus inwhen i was in it, especially as a young person, it was rules oriented but not like it is now.

The sense of community is gone. I remember the potluck meals after the book study. They eere great! We really got to know wach other and appreciate each other. Despite the hassle of that third meeting, it was short and worthwhile because of the association. it made it soooo essy fot me to remain a witness. Theu did away with the book study, and i wasn't able to say hi or get to know the brothers like i wanted to. Now, you HAVE to go out in field service if you want to get to know people better. And honestly, who has the time to waste on such garbage activity? I was not ever motivated enough to go out in field service afterwards. At least at the book study you could approach or be approached to make arrangements. It was a BAD change.
Now, the articles are a bunch of crap too. No deep bible study WHATSOEVER. it was one of the main reasons why i became a HW. i really felt like i was getting a bible education. It's just the same texts over and over again.
Sidenote. right before i got df'd, I studied the God's love book for a short time. Whenever we reached any of the paragraphs concerning Jesus i was completely clueless about his role and purpose. I realize now that was because JWs have not studied anything about Jesus for some time.
It's changed for the worse.

Breastfeeding in Bathrooms...
by cognac inthe natick, ma assemble hall used to have it's own room for breastfeeding mothers.
they changed this room to the accounting room or something like that and now have seats available for breastfeeding inside the bathroom.. there is one other small room available for breastfeeding but they close that off when the baptism is going on.
needless to say, i used to get so pissed off that they actually wanted me to breastfeed in the bathroom that i would threaten to a brother that i would take my boob out in front of everybody and that is there problem because breastfeeding in a bathroom is unsanitary.. one year they put me in some backroom.

Nursing in bathrooms is so much fun- NOT! I tolerated it wiyh my firstborn for some time, but i was only able tonurse hwr for a short time. At the District Assembly one year they had us in some basement area that was utterly depressing. After the first day we decided i would nurse her discretely in my seat. We made sure to go al th wy to the top. Inever heard a peep.
I remember also insisting that they put a changing table in the men's bathroom at both of the KHs where we attended. I harassed the elders tono end about it until they finally had enough. Funny, they told me it was something that had to be agreed upon by all of the elders in all of the congregations at that KH. i remember being so upset about it, telling the brother-- "how hard is it to get a changing table? I'll go buy one myself!"
At the second KH I was at, they did have a separate room. But it didn't have a mirror. I spoke tothe PO and said that after nursing, it's hardto tell if my blouse is appropriately closed." Well, he didn't like me so it fell on deaf ears. I continued to insist and talk with every elder even after i stopped nursing. Finally, a good friend of mine who had just become an elder and heard me complaining both privately and publicly on the matter ran up to me after the meeting and told me to go check out the nursing room. He made sure to get the mirror. I was very happy and so was he. Now all boobies would be safely tucked away.
Oh! And any misbehaving babies were sent with their mommies to the walk-in closet. Great times, smh....

Ideas to wake up the JW 'Feelers'
by Captain Obvious ina great point was made by neverknew on another thread about certain doctrinal issues will cause a 'thinker' to wake up, but a 'feeler' will just shrug and carry on.
the feeler jw is often not stupid, but intellectually lazy.
they will often not bother to do research, whatever is said from the platform is fine.

ABibleStudent/Robert, These are excellent suggestions that I hope to apply to my own situation. I hope the original poster follows them as well.

at the DC right now, disgusting talk
by losingit intortured by this talk where they are attempting to legitimize the division/ separation of family.. "sadly friends some will refuse to have courage in this matter.is it not in our best interests to abide the arrangements of the christian congregation as set by jehovah?
accept the torture stake involved in confessing union with christ.
then they cite the example of a brother who is thankful to his wife for persisting in preaching to him.. now they are talking about disfellowshipping, lay serious guilt trip .the brother talking about his baby sister getting disfellowshipped, how his father cried for the first time.
