DD,
Once again I echo Cofty,
Calories in, calories out. The rest of it is BS. And it can't be any other way. You can't 'spot' reduce, and drugs, chemicals, fad diets, binge/purge, etc. may work over the short time but fail miserably over the long term. It is really 100 percent about calories. The best fat burner is your discipline with calories and moving. Do anything but move. That may change in the brave new world in the future but for now were stuck. Good luck.
what do you do when you believe in your heart that your spouse is never going to wake up to the tatt?
when you're sick of the cherade of pretending you can deal with the spiritual division when you dont think you can anymore.
when you're convinced that your spouse is so decieved she is lost in a desert and is fine with living by the mirage.
Married,
"Raised that way?" What does that mean? My kids followed me out of the Borg all of those years ago. I continued raising them in the exact same manner as before, without the god spin. I never spoke of god or religion and they were both free to be and believe as they wished. I continue to set a very good example for them and expect them to live life at a very high ethical level, which they do. Call it the Santa Clause if you wish - doing good for goodness sake - if that helps. None of us ever think about god, jesus, the bible or relgion - all the while doing good and being good.
Knowing Dubs as we do, your chance of winning her over to the Catholics or any other religion are slim. Good luck to you.
atheists want there to be no god.
absolutely false!
atheists i have met arent evil, but very moral.
VG,
Yes, and prayer, which has also been proven scientifically to 'work' but without regard to the religion or the god (doesn't matter if it's a make believe person in the sky, Thor or a pole in your back yard as long as you believe) to whom you pray.
it's happened before.
how much crap can any rational human being take before they just snap & walk away disgusted?.
TTAT,
In your opinion, how many current Dubs would leave the Borg, or at least stop going/contributing/preaching/etc. if the disfellowshipping rule was eliminated? Like many others on this site, I do not believe the current numbers provided by the Borg, and I didn't believe them 20 years ago when I was an elder. Your thoughts kind sir?

Married,
First I would suggest that you need a divorce. Divorce the concept that your 'spirituality' (whatever that means) has anything to do with religion or god. You can be 'spiritual' and a damned good person absent any religion or god. Show your wife that. But first prove it to yourself. Your being a kind, decent, honest, ethical leader of your family hasn't anything to do with the Catholics, the Dubs or any other relgiion. To paraphrase a biblical thought: that may 'win' her over.

QC,
Please qualify. If you mean by godless the atheists amongst us, then the empirical data suggests exactly the opposite of your premise. The 'godless' atheists, where they are in abundance, contribute to a more functional and peaceful society. If, by godless you mean those religious people who act in what you personally think of a 'godless' manner, then you may be onto something. Except the planet is likely going to become more and more secular, atheistic, 'godless' -- and functional.
once the spell is broken, one you take a deep fresh breath outisde of the watchtower camp, the amazingly obvious realisation becomes clear.... of course this is a lie, of course this is ridiculous!
you find you have memories of really believing the claims and promises, but it seems like another life, another experience.
it seems so incredibly false once you leave and it is very difficult to belive you even once accepted it!
Snare, as a follow-up: If an OP gets 30 views per post that appears, from my less-than-scientific-observation, to make it a fairly popular OP. Note the OP that's currently 'showing" about new Borg information: "What is this annoucement coming in August." It has 54 posts to this point and over 5600 views. Over 100 views per post suggests current, fading, disillusioned Borgians or those freshly out. Either way they are looking for something that suggests the Borg is either going to become more tolerant and mainstream (allowing DFed people to see loved ones and those trapped because of family to stay) or the Borg is going to throw in the towel or admit they were wrong, for examples.
New Light. Bleeding Jesuses. Miracles. Feelings. Beliefs. Please, all you current, fading, sick and tired Dubs and those fresly out: your mindset is trapping you; if you do finally exit the Borg and you keep this mindset, it will continue to trap you.
september 11, 2001. riding the bus to school that tuesday morning we discussed the implications of the monday night football game between the broncos and the dolphins.
by lunchtime our entire world have changed dramatically.
america had passed into a new era that would lead to major changes.
Space,
I don't know why you mentioned these subjects, as they appear off-topic. Where do you get your information?
Same-Sex Marriage Support Reaches New High at 55%
Nearly eight in 10 young adults favor gay marriage
by Justin McCarthy
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Americans' support for the law recognizing same-sex marriages as legally valid has increased yet again, now at 55%. Marriage equality advocates have had a string of legal successes over the past year, most recently this week in Pennsylvania and Oregon where federal judges struck down bans on gay marriage.
From Wikepedia:
Public opinion polls in the United States since 2010 show majority support for legal recognition of same-sex marriage. Majority public support for same-sex marriage has solidified, as polls since 2010 consistently indicate support above 50%.[1] Support has increased steadily for more than a decade, with supporters first achieving a majority in 2010.[2][3][4][5] An August 2010 CNN poll became the first national poll to show majority support for same-sex marriage,[6] with nearly all subsequent polls showing majority support.
Two successive Gallup polls in 2012 saw support climb from 53% to 54%, indicating a steady but slight growth in acceptance of gay marriages over the past year after a more rapid increase between 2009 and 2011. In the latest May 8-11 poll, there is further evidence that support for gay marriage has solidified above the majority level. This comes on the heels of gay marriage proponents' 14th legal victory in a row.
When Gallup first asked Americans this question about same-sex marriage in 1996, 68% were opposed to recognizing marriage between two men or two women, with slightly more than a quarter supporting it (27%). Since then, support has steadily grown, reaching 42% by 2004 when Massachusetts became the first state to legalize it -- a milestone that reached its 10th anniversary this month.

Snare,
First, why are you still awake? It's what, 1:15 a.m. your time? Second, excellent analysis. "New Light" is no different than miracles and saints and bleeding/crying Jesuses, which appeal to the base emotions of the flock. You all have heard me rant about that. Feelings are the lowest, followed quickly by beliefs. That's why they are so effective in keeping the blind, blind and the trapped, trapped. The Borgians keenly look forward to 'new light," and the Dark Lords in the Tower know it. Even on this site, the number of 'views' on any topic related to 'this just in' about the Borg results in the highest number of 'Views" of any other type of post. Addicted to it.
