  I hear what everyone is saying about the reasons for re-location, but they don't make sense to me. Why would the Dark Lords leave NY, NY where it had credible PR on an international level simply by nature of its existence there. And Brooklyn has returned as a vibrant, upscale area. If I create a side-by-side comparison of the pros and cons I keep coming back to the recognition they receive from being in what many believe is the most important city in the world. That trumps a lot of apostates, taxes and living expenses.

  Leaving for the 'burbs and hinterlands suggests, at least to me, an increasing paranoia. IMHO the move will continue their spiral into insignificance and increase the pace of delusional paranoia, suspicion and control. NY, NY likely served as a reality check to these narcissists. NY, NY can can painfully at times direct and honest; perhaps the Dark Lords are too sensitive to criticism. This doesn't bode well for the rank and file. But I've been out a long time; others likely have a better grasp on this.

  i don't understand why so many ex jws and faders think that the jws will continue to grow and thrive as a religion.

  i still attend a meeting once a week and you can smell the death of the religion creeping up when you hear the talks, read the study wts and hear the letters from the gb.

  the way the organization has changed is a sign that it reached its peak (in "healthy" membership) long ago.

  As a self appointed member of the new GB I suppose that makes you enlightened on all things scripture. You have special knowledge and direct access to the big girl in the sky. Thanks for letting us know where we can all go when we want real prophecy and truth. Have you cleared the new King of the North stuff with Mr. Van Impe and Drexela?

  I see you are also a (self) acknowledged expert on climatology. Ninety seven percent of the climatologists on the planet believe, based on their science which they have studied for decades, that the climate is changing and man is contributing. Please contact them all and tell them the real truth, that its volcanoes. They will appreciate it.

  So you have scripture, prophecy and cimate covered. Are there any other topics for which you are a (self-appointed) expert? It will save us all a lot of time and energy knowing where to turn.

  they even interviewed a "former gay man" who "kicked the gay habit".. evidently kicking the "gay habit" is difficult, not unlike quitting smoking or avoiding sugary snacks.

  the persons who related this to me found the whole thing to be laughable at best, but honestly seemed quite disturbed by it (which is good!

  Lots of great comments and analysis. Thanks guys. Billy, I always enjoy your posts. Twice Shy, nice post. Cults by their nature eat their own, and the Borg is the leader of the pack in this regard. That was one of the things I began to despise about it. Rules, near-rules, almost rules, rules llight, walk, talk and sound like rules pitted one person against the other, just as the Dark Lords intended. Nothing like controlling the masses than peer pressure. Nothing like removing individual conscience and freedom of choice by pitting brother against brother.

  Cults also tend to be paranoid/delusional, so any threat or perceived threat, regardless of the type or origin, will eliicit the only response they know: more of the same, intensified. Twice Shy, if you are speaking from recent experience then I would say this is predictable.

  The literature and assemblies were cash cows. From what I hear those two have dried up, as the literature is smaller, has less content and there isn't as much of it. Reducing the assemblies also suggests they are not feeling the love ($) from these as much. The Borg was also fueled financially for years by a lot of fairly successful individuals in the West and by the above average growth in Western (richer) lands. And free labor. They began bleeding the most capable and intelligent before the Internet arrived on scene; I imagine the bleeding continues at a higher pace as Twice Shy points out. The growth is in third world and developing countries, so the $ grab from local congregations suggests some intense cash flow problems. Good for them.

  The power of the Internet will continue to explose the Borg's ridiculousness and cause many to exit or wither. The siren's song of higher education will pull more and more of the Borg into it; it isn't likely they will hang around once they get a taste of freedom and especially the freedom to learn. The Borg loses nearly 70% of its born-ins, and the younger generation, from what you all say, hasn't bought in and aren't true believers. Bleeding of the best and brightest will continue. Growth in Western lands and secular countries (Japan, Korea, etc.) will likely retract.

  Having said all of this, and as many posters have pointed out, dumbass cults have been able to survive and even thrive for a long time. As long as there are enough brain dead adherents and newbies buying in to the paradise they will somehow make it. I wish they would be fully exposed for what they are and be eliminated from the planet, but I just don't see it happening. They are already insignificant. And will likely become moreso.

  Convince me otherwise; I would love to see its demise.

  i am still in, and as my name says "stuckinarut"...now i know it is not the truth, i know it for a fact...but im so messed up with a wash of hundreds of thoughts that i cant seem to get my head in order.. i thought i had my head clear and my 'sh1t together' so to speak....but ..... im sure you know what i mean?

  when there are so many reasons and facts proving ttatt, but if asked to make a list in bullet points now, i would get so overwhelmed....i just dont know where to start.

  i feel like i would be like a balloon let go flying around the room in all directions trying to 'spew' out the facts!.

  Ditto. My last few years in the Borg several of us would make fun of the controlling language and suggest possible WT articles based on how they would attempt to control the sheeple with loaded questions, nouns and adjectives. The last few months of my Borgian existence the control was no longer fun; it made we want to vomit.

  on the basis that most of us realise the w.t wasnt really the best " job" or way to spend our days, it would be fun to find out what people would really have liked to have done with there lifes and if this is still possible.

  or maybe its not even a very realistic ambition just a dream.

  in my dreams i stay at home all day and make a living from being a professional artist.maybe i need a phycholgist?.

  Stuck,

  I get what you are trying to do, but developing a spread sheet, IMHO, will simply wear out your brain matter. The Borg will always have something in their doctrine whine will attract you or make you go 'hmmmm.'

  I closed the door completely and quickly based on 4 things:

  1. The GB does not and never has had any special knowledge. All of their prophecies have failed miserably and their history is replete with ridiculousness.

  2. The bible isn't and never has been the inspired word of god.

  3. The Borg destroys families.

  4. The Borg robs individual choices/freedoms/consciences from its followers.

  The minutae and details were krink kronk. Insignificant. That's all I needed.
