NotNew,
I can't argue with that!!! ".. .someone or science has to come in and save the race."
NBC's show "The New Normal" is about a gay couple hiring a surrogate to have their child. Google this topic; it's a growth industry.
heard from a reliable source that this was part of friday's program.
they even interviewed a "former gay man" who "kicked the gay habit".. evidently kicking the "gay habit" is difficult, not unlike quitting smoking or avoiding sugary snacks.
the persons who related this to me found the whole thing to be laughable at best, but honestly seemed quite disturbed by it (which is good!

By impregnating your straight friend. Or hiring someone to become impregnated. Or hiring two people, one to impregnate the other. That's called business, not science.
article is basicqlly about families where a spouse is working away from home for an extended period, etc...a foot note says basically that some studies have shown that working away from home can cause serious consequences, such as infidelity, homosexuality, or incest.

Blondie, spot on. They have no studies. The writers of these articles have to be working on them for months before they appear in the WT, etc. Assuming they have any training at all, they know that definitive statements require support by empirical data in articles that have any credibility. They also know that there are studies on just about everything imaginable and have time to research the topic completely and cite sources for their comments.
It is likely that any sources/studies they quote would be ripped to shreds by its detractors and by some rank in file who cared enough to actually do some research, which takes a few minutes now on the 'Net. I would expect to see more articles and statements supported by 'some studies' in the future. They lack any academic credibility; they are written to control the under-educated and the brain dead.

NotNew,
Researchers conduct these studies by measuring responses to images, etc., such as pupil dilation, respiration and heart rates and of course genitalia response. As for the rest of your comments, these have been addressed in detail previously on this site. Why would you think we wouldn't reproduce? Gays want and have children now, and science is rarely involved. Have you heard of surrogates? Humans would work all of that out. Please research the previous OPs on this.

Alpha and Shirley,
Funny stuff! But to make this rearch tool valid, they would have to ask whether the sheeple were engaged in: Infidelity, Homosexuality, Incest, etc. before they worked away from home and then do the math, accounting for a margin of error! They would also have to add questions about how long the work stay lasted and to address their other stupid rules whether the traveler engaged in masturbation or porn viewing while away. And to rule out other variants they would have to ask whether there were underlying factors which may have contributed (domineering/neglectful spouse, etc.). Then they would have to chart the responses, creating a normal population distribution chart/bell curve in order to appropriately analyze it, determining where in the bell curve the data suggested there could be a corelation.
As if. They would rather use their bully pulpit to create another set of draconian 'rules' to follow and further strip individual conscience and choice from the sheep.

The Borg will never end their relentless pursuit of creating more rules, near rules, almost rules and walk talk and sound like rules to control the rank and file. Twisting data for their own purposes, referencing 'studies' which likely don't exist and projecting extreme behaviors at the tail ends of bell curves over the entire population of a given behavior are time honored practices of the Dark Lords.
It's how they have systematically elliminated individual choice and conscience and why I despise them.
it really is pretty sad that the gb and their "fair-haired-boys" cannot get their stories straight even from one day to the next.. friday, while touting the greatness of jw.org the rc speaker bragged about the web site being translated into over 400 languages.
on saturday splane bragged about it being translated in 369 languages.
while that is close to 400 it surely isn't over 400.. then yesterday one of the speakers said, "the mormon church is investing on internet web site outreach.
pistjw,
House to house? Really? In the 17 years I've lived at my current residence, which is very close to a KH and in a very nice area with lots of areas to 'break," I've seen evidence of the Borg at my door on 4 occasions. That's once every 4 plus years. I've seen the Mormons and the Baptists more often. Of course, the Borg members may simply be 'air knocking," which is what a lot of us were doing a quarter century ago. But door to door? If it isn't on the tv and now the Internet, no one pays it any never mind.
Oubilette, thanks for being on this site. I don't really belong here and your presence, and those like you, keep me around. BTW, I like your calm demeanor a lot, but I like your wise ass demeanor a lot more. Mock on.

In hindsight the events of 9/11 were an optimal opportunity for the Dark Lords to re-invent the Borg. Sadly, they simply increased the rhetoric that the Big "A" was close at hand, using 9/11 to further their delusional rants and narrow their already myopic vision. They could have used those events - and the subsequent international attention which NY, NY garnered from it - to completely make the Borg over. They could have actually helped out or found meaningful ways to contribute to the post-event support.
Couple that with the re-birth of Brooklyn and the Borg could be shining like a new dime. If I'm their PR guy, I'm telling them they screwed up. Bad. But they have never been outwardly (wordly) focused and don't give a damn about anything but their numbers: the $ in the bank, the $ in monthly cash flow and the % increase. That's all they care about. There is a long history of Borg leaders linking approval from Jah with $ and increase. That isn't likely to change.

Factfinder,
A kinder, gentler, inclusive, trusting (of individual freedom and conscience) and less judgmental and controlling Borg is what is needed by the trapped masses. The move away from NY, NY to seclusion - and isolation- doesn't seem to suggest that any of these things will occur. Their operating costs will be funded by the Western congregations it appears, at least that's what the Dark Lords appear to be banking (pun intended) on. It will be interesting to see whether the congregations will fork over, I mean contribute, enough to keep the thing going. If Fying High is correct, and the sheeple tire of the abuse and control, it isn't likely the $ will cover operating costs and cash flow requirements. That, IMHO, will be the one thing that might, just might, lead to a kinder, gentler Borg. Or its implosion.

Apognophos,
Thanks for the information and filling in the gaps for me.
