New Hope, check my posting history. I've angered a lot of people on this site because of a lack of rushing to judgment, and I'm not judging the Cos now. This is an OP, and I am expressing my professional opinion. Nothing more. Based on the civil suit and the volume of those who have or could come forward with the same MO, and their seeming credibility, I believe Cos is a monster. An opinion. Please try to separate the two.

New Hope, I agree completely. The news accounts related to this and the facts which can be gleaned from it are the only things I am relying on. But 13?? None of them knew each other as far as I know, none of them knew about the other as far as I know, and all of the ones I have seen before the camera have on the surface credibility. And all of the ones who have spoken publicy either recently or in the past recount more or less the exact same MO. Could all of that be smoke and no fire? Of course. Do I think that it is all smoke and no fire? IMHO Dr. Huxtable is a monster. But it is only an opinion. Everyone deserves their time in court and the facts to be evaluated and determined.

New Hope, I've already stated I'm withholding judgment and that he deserves his years in court. The civil suit settlement speaks volumes. As much as anyone on this site I avoid rushing to judgment. But based on my years of experience, my professional 'opinion,' which I have qualified it to be, as that Dr. Huxtable is a monster. He is a free man. No one is violating his civil rights. No one also wants to be associated with him, and he will likely go to his grave in silence and humiliation. That, IMHO, is what he deserves. I only wish the civil suit had gone to trial; we would amost certainly be having a much different conversation.

I loved Brother Michael too, until the dumbass kept on playing with little children rather than stopping after he spent 20 million dollars to keep one quiet. Chickens coming home to roost.

If Dr. Huxtable had fought the civil suit, all of the Jane Does would likely have testified. And the world would have known. Cos wanted none of that. I believe he his a monster but will withhold judgment.

In Jan. 2004 Andrea Constand, then a 31 yr. old staffer for the women's basketball team at Temple U, Cosby's alma mater, was at the comedian's home in PA when Cosby provided her medication that made her dizzy. She woke to find her clothes in disarray. The problem is she didn't report it until the following year; the DA believed her and that Cosby was not telling the truth but the delay in reporting made it difficult to proceed (he said/she said). Cosby settled a civil suit with the young woman in 2006 in part because the woman's attorney had 13 other "Jane Does" with similar stories related to Mr. Cosby.
I have been an investigator, and I avoid rushing to judgment as my posting history illustrates, whether it is Zimmerman, Woody Allen or Michael Brown. However, my gut tells me Dr. Huxtable is a monster. Of course he deserves his day(s) in court, but the civil suit says a lot.

That figures from a lot of perspectives. The fundies have been taught (by Proverbs) that beating your child will save him from the devil (hell), just as the Borg taught us, albeit from sheol. I'm glad I ignored that very bad admonition. The scripture in Proverbs is one of the bricks in my theist wall that I analyzed, evaluated and then removed on my way to atheism.

Simon and Talesin, ditto. A number of recent studies suggest that harsh corporal punishment permanently damages the gray matter in children, especially those in the 5 - 9 year age group. It is thought to impact the childrens' abilities to make critical decisions and to behave socially as well. It needs to end, and it is yet more rational, science based evidence that the bible is nonsense and not in any manner inspired.
Just now out, your initial response was based on your own personal emotional opinons. I suggested in trying to help you that a better understanding of the working agreement between the players and the NFL management would enable you to speak more intelligently about it. Your second response suggested an entrenched, mis-placed pride with more emotions attached. Your third response is a WTF moment which makes no sense whatsoever. I can help you but you have to let me. You have a sparse posting history, and yet you felt strongly enough to post on this OP. Emotions can be a good thing, but I would suggest that you do some homework the next time you think about posting. Ratchet your emotions down about 6 levels and 'listen' to what I'm saying.
