funny thing was they got mixed up in it first.. while that is a story for another time, i myself had to go along as the third of five children in my family.
dads job transferred him to texas and my mom worked fulltime herself, but eventually we found ourselves drinking the kool-aid of ambiguity intolerance and full-fledge belief that the bible was literal fact and that salvation was found only by those who were smart enough to enter the confines of the watchtower.. its weird how many people claim they fear children raised by two gay parents will grow up to be gay.

As I mentioned to Caleb, it wasn't an attack. I thought it was cute that, based on the fact that he joined immediately after you, had essentially an identical number of posts as you, and had essentially an identical viewpoint on an OP you both responded to in just the 5th day on the site is all more than a bit of a coincidence. I apologized to him if he took it the wrong way; I am apologizing to you if you took it the wrong way. That both of you are over-reacting in this small matter probably makes some lurkers think that I was hitting a bit close to home. Even if I am, it is of no consequence to me or anyone else and certainly not to any OP. Continuing to angst about it suggests it is of consequence to you. There. Are you now happy? I have explained myself twice and apologized twice. Is that enough?
An ad hominem attack wasn't necessary. Your circular reasoning, which I've heard before, requires one to swallow a whole lot of stuff. That Satan as a Serpent is a story or metaphor ultimately removes the very reason the Christ was necessary and utterly negates a whole lot of very important bible stuff from beginning to end and a lot in the middle. Either the entire biblical premise is fantasy or none of it is fantasy. You are free to choose; I've been on both sides of the issue and the only one that makes sense is where I currently reside.

Graduating college May 14. Update on Getting my GED and going to college thread from 5 years ago.

i started this topic 5 years ago letting everyone know i had decide to get my ged and go to college in hopes of getting an education so that i could have a career instead of just a job.
i wanted fulfillment and a future, not just another job that has no really future in it.

I haven't made a character attack. You both joined at the same time and you fully support Hold Me's views. I find that more than coincidental, but other than being adorable is anything but an attack. I did state that your circular reasoning was nauseating me, which it is. I have yet to attack your character. Only your arguments.
I find your spin about Satan circular, specious, and insulting to my intelligence. I have read that spin before and rejected it for the same reasons. It's all made up or none of it is made up. I choose the former, for all of the reasons you will find on similar OPs as well as this one. It comes across as Jesus and his Magical Mystery Tour, minus the rock stars that would make it interesting.

I've read that stuff too. It's spin. Not very good spin either. George was a real person; the cherry tree story was a story. You can't read the references about Satan made by Jesus, etc. in the NT and tell me that none of them thought he was a real personage. There are too many of them and they are made at some of the most crucial points in the NT. It is an insult to anyone's intelligence to ask them to swallow that without throwing all of it out as rubbish, including the existence of Jesus, Michael, Moses and the apostles, which is what Simon is saying in this OP.
Cherry picking the parts you like slays me. OK, now I'm through. I don't enter theist discussions; it's against my religion. Substitute Satan, Serpent, Roaring Lion, etc. with Easter Bunny or that really scary guy living under your bed makes as much sense.
But Caleb, it is sweet that you came to the rescue of Ms. Caleb. I like that.

So you are telling me that all of the references to Satan, the Lion, the Serpent, etc. used by Jesus, Paul, Peter, John and others are all myths and stories? I suppose we can also glean from this that the references to Jesus made by Paul, Peter, John, etc. are also myths. George was a real person. Are you saying Satan isn't? Jesus isn't? Which parts are we to believe and which to ignore as fantasy?
