  "Wanted" her to get an orange jumpsuit? Actually, I understand the results of her actions in legal cases such as these. If I hadn't 'wanted' her to get an orange jumpsuit my OP would have read the same. It was a foregone conclusion. Unlike you and the fundies on this site, I use empirical and expert sources for my data rather than fundie websites. And I utilize a rational, un-emotional analytical approach to issues such as these, rather than an irrational, emotional based reaction. You, Z, and the others might try that. Notice who I quoted - the Governor of KY, a constitutional scholar at UL (Do you have any idea the education and experience required to be called a constitutional expert???) and what I referenced - the SCOTUS and the appeals courts.

  I would prefer, by a large margin, for her to change her heart. How easy it would have been for her to respond like this: "Although I recently became an x-tian and I do not believe that gay marriage is approved by the bible and the god I serve, based on the oath I took, the US Constitution as interpreted by the SCOTUS, and the fact that I believe my god and savior showed me underserved kindness and grace after making many mistakes in my life, I will show the same grace to those whose lifestyles I disagree with. I will sign the marriage certificates.

  Praise be to my lord and savior jesus christ."

  Rat,

  I've tried to ignore your lame-ality, but you just keep posting: "One reason that I support her is that gays came down from Ohio to that county just to cause trouble. If they just cared about their marriage, just go to a state that allows SS unions."

  First, KY allows SS unions -they are called MARRIAGES just to make sure you understand the difference - just not Ms. Davis and a couple of other clerks who, if they continue violating the SCOTUS' interpretation of the Constitution, will join Ms. Davis soon in orange jumpsuits. And Rat, gay marriage is now the law of the land; there will continue to be those fighting it, just as there were those fighting it, including entire states and school districts, when many of the civil rights laws were passed. How did that work out for them??? They are long dead, thankfully, or have finally complied or at least STFU. Just as those haters and opposers will in time.

  Second, x-tians also came down from Ohio to that county just to cause trouble. These same x-tians from the North have stood outside and harassed the gay couples seeking licenses. But you are clearly OK with that, right?

  It seems so easy for you to label the gay supporters from Ohio as trouble makers but see the x-tian supporters of Ms. Davis as supporters. Hypocrite. You've added nothing to this other than a lame view from an Old White Male Perspective with a feigned attempt at Libertarian tolerance, but your prejudice is oozing out from between the lines.

  But I'm glad this OP continues; if we had any doubt about the mental acuity and religion based backwardness of some of our members before this OP, we don't have such doubts anymore.

  i know this is a bit off the topic of religion, but i just got back from seeing ant man with my son.

  i'm getting tired of the fact that hollywood (and in this case the action/hero genre) rarely seems to have an original thought.

  has anybody noticed the same theme?.

  Your are accurate, and expect more of the same. Based on what I have read, right now it appears that foreign markets are paying the profits for Hollywood movies. And foreign markets, based on what I understand, prefer action movies and sequels even more than US audiences, especially it seems the Marvel and other comic heroes.

  Unless and until that business design changes, Spider Man IX and Iron Man XXX are in the plans. And they won't change the plots, etc. much lest the masses revolt.

  Yeah I'm with you. That Rosa Parks woman should have kept quiet and found a different form of transportation. Demanding that she ride THAT bus in THAT city in a DIGNIFIED manner!! Those uppity blacks. Look what she caused, civil rights for everybody, including x-tians.

  They should not have to go anywhere to get a license other than the county in which they live. WTF is wrong with you and your kind? I've read this nonsense on x-tian fundie websites. The only person wrong in this matter was Ms. Davis.

  If having more than one wife/husband is made legal at some time in the future, why would you care? Once again, that is a religious issue, not a secular one. And why do you and those like you continue to link gay marriage with other issues un-related?

  A sign seen outside Ashland Ky where Ms. Davis resides. Ashland, which sits on the Ohio, River just across from Ohio and W VA (the only state completely within the Appalachian region), is 95% white, under-educated when compared to the rest of the US, blue collar, coal-mining, bible thumping fundies. If you took a map of the Appalachian region and used a ruler to find the smack dab right in the middle of it, you would be about 10 miles from Ashland. They can't even spell in the armpit of Appalachia.

  

  Sorry, I've been watching too many episodes of "True Blood." But really, is it even possible to watch too much True Blood?

  OREHEAD, Ky. (AP) — A jailed Kentucky clerk asserted that marriage licenses issued without her authority Friday to gay couples in Rowan County are void and "not worth the paper they are written on" because she didn't authorize them, her attorney said.

  Kim Davis now wears an orange jumpsuit and "has already been doing Bible studies with herself" in jail, her attorney Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel told reporters after meeting with her behind bars."

  i have noticed that the jws are participating in meetings organized by the osce.

  they are registered or participate under the "european association of jehovah's christian witnesses".

  one point highlighted in this organization is tolerance.

  I first want to say that I have been aware of your organization for many years and I follow the excellent work you do to bring stability and equality to Europe and the world. Thank you. The reason I am e-mailing you concerns information I recently received that suggests the religious group of Jehovah's Witnesses is a participating member. If this is not correct, please ignore what I am about to write.
  
  I was raised in this organization and served as an elder in it until leaving it more than 20 years ago. This religious organization is not and never will be in alignment with your lofty goals and objectives. The Jehovah's Witnesses show a facade of being tolerant, but in reality their teachings, for the entire 100 plus years of their existence, are centered around intolerance for every other religion and every other person on the planet that is not a member of their religion.
  
  Their members are discouraged from seeking higher education, which is a core objective of the OSCE, by the JW leaders, and they have been taught for a century to stay away from 'wordily' pursuits such as education, political reform, environmental or social improvements, because one day soon their god is going to destroy the billions of people and all of the governments and entities who aren't JWs, including the OSCE.
  
  These are facts that you can readily and easily confirm. I would give much consideration to allowing this religious group to even be associated by name only with the OSCE. They are a hate filled organization; their dreadful shunning policy practiced against members has had a sometimes terrible affect on human suffering, leading to the destruction of entire families, depression and increased use of governmental resources as a result.
  
  This religious group is dangerous; do not simply look at their facade. Please investigate thoroughly before allowing them any participation or the legitimacy that they are seeking.
