Fish,
Read my last response again; I indicated that I wouldn't have taken it public and that there is certainly an argument to be made about the manner in which Morph handled it. When he first posted this, I did not know he was talking about you. You and I rarely cross paths, as I avoid theist posts out of respect. I sometimes make fun of names; i make more fun of myself than I make of anyone. Well, maybe Metatron (where IS he, my little obsessive, compulsive conspiracy theorist friend)?
Sometimes people make fun of me. I have bit back, hard. I have ignored it, depending on the situation (sometimes I start it). You should have ignored it, IMHO, or shown some contrition. The more you flail about childishly to prove how right you are the more you lose the argument. You called Morph a liar; in a lot of people's books you started it.

Fish,
I wouldn't have taken it public. Rational people may agree that it should have remained private. Morph did take it public. Rational people may also understand why he did.
I also wouldn't have sent a list of interrogation questions to Morph; he has been on this site a while and, based on what I have read, has built some credibility. You called him a liar. He reacted.
As long as you continue to act like an irrational, emotional child in this matter, seeing no one's view but your own and learning nothing from this, you will get more of what you have gotten.

Fisherman,
You know, if you had shown just a little contrition about the manner in which you machine gunned your questions to Morpheus while holding the interrogation light in his eyes, we would have shown you more love. And almost certainly Morpheus would have answered you privately.
A little contrition would have gone a long way. You could have said something like: "You're right Morph, my questioning overstepped the line between wanting to know so that we might have shared something in common and not believing a fukking thing you have said about being at Bethel and essentially calling you a liar."
He embarrassed you. You deserved it. Grow up or a pair. Matters not to me.

Sparrowdown: "I agree for all the reasons given in the article that the WT is faced with a decision: adapt ot die.
Reform would be the logical conclusion (put through the WT spin-cycle to emerge as nu-lite of course.)
I 'm just dying to see which way this particular cat is going to jump."
Ditto. Entire books have been written about this (see "Change or Die" by Alan Deutschman). It is common for corporations to be overtaken, at least temporarily, by large social, cultural and economic changes, especially if they have arrogantly or ignorantly thought that they were immune. This 'cat', the Dark Lords in this case, is both arrogant and ignorant.
As some of us have suggested, the re-tooling of their business design has consultant written all over it. It shouldn't be seen as a death stroke, as numerous corporations have rise from the ashes, like a Phoenix, to be re-born as something better.
Having said that, you are spot on (are you really LisaRose??) as usual. Which way will this cat leap. They seem to have placed their trust in whomever is directing the change, for good or bad. The problem with the Dark Lords is cash flow, as we have routinely suggested. Old money, deep pockets and capital gains shouldn't be used for O&M expenses. The cash flow for their business design has dried up, so they've invented a new one.
It is fraught with problems, as they are trying to get operating funds from the poorest and least educated religious group in the world. Good luck with that. Unlike IBM, GE, Apple, etc., they are severely limited with options for new venues for cash flow. The new strategy hinges on one thing, methinks: whether the rank and file will fork over limited $ to the Dark Lords in sufficient manner to keep the engine running.
Once they have to dip into reserve, capital gains, savings, investments, etc. to cover operating expenses on a regular basis, the fat lady has begun to sing.

You can put the interrogation flashlight down now.

We may be missing the point of these changes if we focus on growth/money. Whether the Dark Tower was growing or shrinking in numbers and $, this is a more efficient business design, especially for churches. Data obtained through an empirical method and referenced on the world wide web:
1. Rodney Stark of Baylor University compared churches with attendances under 100 against those over 1,000, reporting it in What Americans Really Believe. He sought to determine whether large or small congregations provide a better religious experience. He concludes that the “mile wide and inch deep” accusations of megachurches, taken as a whole, lack a research base. Stark includes a graphic in his study that shows larger churches fare better in most categories.
2. Barna Research wrote “How Faith Varies by Church Size.” Its study found attenders of large churches were more likely than those engaged in a small or mid-sized congregation to give an orthodox biblical response – such as that Jesus led a sinless life, the Bible is totally accurate in all the principles it teaches, Satan is not merely symbolic but exists, God is the all-powerful creator of the world who still rules the universe, etc. Further, on seven of the eight behavioral measures, attenders of large churches scored substantially better than those of small churches. Activities included attending church in the past week, reading the Bible in the past week, and volunteering at their church in the past week. The average difference related to the seven behaviors was 17 percentage points.
And larger churches were more likely to tithe.
If I'm a consultant, and I am, this is the type of data/research I'm presenting to my client.

This looks more like the work from a G.E. Welch inspired consultant in re-tooling the Dark Tower's business design. Maximizing KHs and DC halls makes good business sense.
It should enable those fading and wanting to fade. Changing halls is a time honored method for faders to avoid targeting.
