  Critical Thinking and undeniable facts of true truiness

  i was recently writing to someone on the fractal future forum.

  he came across as a very intelligent person, but i noticed that a post of his about medicine showed that he seemed to lack a lot of knowledge about medical testing and the scientific method.

  so, i asked him some questions, and his reply seemed to contain a logical fallacy in every sentence, concluding with a quote from mercola.com, one of those really dodgy conspiracy theory / anti-science type of sites.

  First of all I have to say that I'm a Tolkien fan, big time. Second, I have to say that I have an intense dislike of conspiracy theorists. Having said that, you have entered a site where conspiracy theorists are every-effing-where. Good luck. There are so many of them that at times I feel like a lone zombie slayer in a "B" movie, having just exhausted my ammo and broken my Louisville slugger. Surrounded, at least for a while!!

  Seriously, when the theorists aren't conspiratorial they are good folk. Welcome back, from There and Back Again.

  What is your purpose or what do you wish to accomplish while a member of this board?

  when i joined this forum i was seeking more people who felt the same way i did in terms of seeing the jehovah's witness organization for what it truly was; a false prophet.. once i found like-minded members i slowly started to open up and participate more in trying to help others that were also exiting mentally and physically.

  today, i offer support to anyone who desires it regardless of what they believe or not believe.. so what is your purpose on this board?.

  I try not to have any beliefs. Beliefs are for Feelers, Perceivers and the Confirmationally Biased, which is the primary reason I don't belong.

  Great OP. Thanks. I wish everyone would understand why they are here. Stuff I've said before: I was out 20 years before joining this site or any like it (other than about 3 months around the turn of the century). I hit the ground running after exiting the Dark Tower and haven't looked back. I didn't come onto this site seeking support or to keep up with the Kardashians, I mean Dark Lords.

  The only reason I'm here is because I'm egocentric and narcissistic enough to think that I have something to offer my former ex-brothers and sisters. But I rarely start OPs; I'm not here to show off, even though some of you think otherwise. And I don't enter OPs where I'm not a SME or where I can't contribute.

  I've accomplished a lot in the past two decades plus, so much that it's all kinda sorta surrealistic when I look in my rear view mirror. Some of it was planned; some of it was Forrest Gumping my way to excellent adventure; and some of it was turning the raw hatred and anger I felt towards the Dark Lords into rocket fuel. And I really have only just begun. I wish I could transfer/translate some of what I've learned to this site, but people don't really change and the same closed mindset is apparent too often, sadly. Although my objectives are noble, I don't really belong here.

  But that is why I'm here.

  in vietnam, not one single horn chasing demons and the end of days..

  even with the new rebranding/softening of this religion, i still don't see how people can believe in him.

  the god of the old testimate is an angry murderer who approved rapes and slavery and killed thousands of men, women and children.

  "Being an atheist means you positively mean God doesn't exist."

  As Viviane pointed out (me and her are sidekicks acc. to The Rebel, or is it Fisherman, I can't tell the difference), being an atheist simply means that one doesn't find there is evidence to support a god. If that changes, I will believe. Being an atheist should mean being an empiricist.

  i know it's not easy for you to walk it's a big decision, family and etc.. if you are afraid consider this.

  i have been here for a few years and i can count on one hand from posters who made the statement, i can't take it anymore, i'm going back.. what is it that members here have given up their family and friends to be free.

  is it so we can have sinful fun, we are our own person and no one will tell us what to do?.

  i am still serving as an elder but just hanging in there.

  i think their quandry is that they don't see me out in the field, but when they need encouragement and decent prayer they come to me.. i just got off the phone to this poor sister who i have only met twice.

  she is not even in my congregation (her sister is).

  Thank you for this post. I was exactly where you are now when I was an elder. I grew to despise how each congregation was beating down people, all at the direction of the Dark Lords. However, it was before the world wide web in all of its present glory, so I lacked the insight you have. You have my admiration. Good luck.
