Anyone Know Anything About Small Intestine Cancer?
by ExpandedMind ina good friend of mine was recently diagnosed with cancer of the small intestine (duodenal adinocarcinoma) and i was wondering if anyone on this board has dealt with this specific type of cancer, either personally or by helping a family member or friend?
he has had surgery and as soon as he is strong enough will begin chemotherapy (they discovered cancer cells in some lymph-nodes).. he indicated to me that doctors have told him it is a very rare type of cancer.
an ontcologist he saw also indicated that treatment with chemo was not well known since the cancer is rare.

i don't know that they were originally from chicago, but i met them when they were staying in the north suburbs in the early 80's.

last i knew they lived in arizona, but through a people search, it appears they may have moved to portland oregon.
i believe they are still witnesses, but am not positive.. thanks!.

by ExpandedMind inhow can "active" jws such as mj's mom, firpo carr and the william's sister who attended mjs support party, openly support him (because he is an exjw) without getting reproved or disfellowshipped by the organization?
i know that we don't see what goes on behind the scenes, perhaps the do get a "talking to" by the elders, but it seems lately that certain active jws are more bold about associating openly with exjws.. has anyone ever read anything about mjs mom's justification of her on-going relationship with mj?
i realize that situations like this (jws associating with exjws) go on all the time in the organization; it is nothing new.

Colon Cancer Treatment
by ExpandedMind inyesterday i found out that my best friend has colon cancer.
they removed what they could of the tumor, during the colonoscopy, but my friend now needs to wait another 8 days until the inflamation goes down until an ultrasound can be done to see how much remains and also to check to see if the lymph nodes are enlarged.
she knows that she will need to have surgery to remove the section of intestine that has the cancer, but they don't yet know what "stage" it is at.

after seeing some advertisements about the presentation that indicated that mjs mother would be on the program, i was interested in seeing what comments, if any, she would make about mj.

Tim LaHaye & 1914
by ExpandedMind ini am reading a book titled: end-time visions, the road to armageddon.
in it the author (richard abanes) mentions tim lahaye, who i believe is the author of the left behind series of books.
interestingly, the end-times book shows how lahaye also looked to 1914 as the beginning of the "last generation" and eventually changed this "date" to a later date.
