It's threads like this that make me glad I'm a Taoist.

i'm about halfway through and i think they're very engaging books.
not sure about all the beliefs laid out in the books, but i still find them really interesting.

i've faded, but i still would like to have faith in a creator/god.
but i am really not sure if my belief in god is the result of being brought up a jw and being stuck with a particular world-view.
the best thing i can do is challenge myself by reading some material that explains proof of the evolution, but i have not seen anything that does this yet, i've only seen explanations of the theory, not the proof.
Evolution does not by necessity negate the existence of God. But, it does make the non-existence of God possible.
Nice sexist comment JH.

it has often been said that the opposite of love is not hate, but indifference.
so, do you "hate" the watchtower society?
could this "hate" be a concealed love?
In my opinion much of the "hatred" people have toward the Society is indeed a concealed love. We love(d) the companionship, the feeling of superiority over the rest of the world, the goal of a beutified earth and perfected life. Now all that is gone, but the love for those things remain. Like a "perfect" marriage that is broken by divorce, our one-time love is turned into hatred, for intense hatred seems to be the only way we can prevent the feelings of love we once had/have to resurface. It's a natural human reaction.
But it can be overcome.

(Nice thoughts, franklin. You're a model of a healthy ex-JW)

hi alan:.
i have been visiting my jw in laws and had the opportunity to read the june 22nd awake!
the author of the article on creation quotes the big names in the intelligent design movement throughout the article in a very favorable light.
Michael Behe, interestingly enough, supports some aspects of evolutionary biology. I know he believes that humans and apes have a common ancestor.
The article, which I read a couple weeks ago, is very misleading in true WT fashion. Besides the "big names" of the ID movement they also quote other scientists who in no way support the notion of a literal view of the Bible or God. They quote Freeman Dyson and Paul Davies, for instance.
It's a pretty shitty article, but I'm sure I don't have to tell you that.

so have you seen the film yet?
what was your impression of it?
here was mine: .
I saw the movie last night and was saddened and very, very angry. Although I fully realize that it was not balanced journalism and that there is "another side to the story" I still cannot possibly imagine that Bush and Co. are not at least a tad bit evil. (Evil -- I choose that word carefully)

well i would love to picket some conventions in north and south carolina, i live in tennessee and the closest one away is johnson city about 80 miles from me, however there is a good possibility that some of my witness relatives from ky might be attending there.
the next closest ones to me would be winston-salem nc, columbia sc, or birmingam alabama.
these other locations are just a little too far for me right now and with gas so expensive i just dont think i could afford the extra expense right now.
I'm sure you've just convinced oodles of people by your signs and antics Danny.
The sad thing is that thousands of JWs see someone like you and all their assumptions about how crazy and "demon-possessed" apostates are ring true.

ok time to be brutally honest.. what do guys think of women with tattoo's.
first thing that jumps into your head.. reason i ask is i'm getting my first one next week and was wondering what the general concensus is.. i am definately sure about doing it.
thought about it for years and it took me 6 months to find the design i wanted.
When in doubt....
