But hey, at least we in Chicago still have the Bears!

jehovah saith unto my lord, sit thou at my right hand, until i make thine enemies thy footstool.
" psalm 110:1 asv.
unitarians tend to look at psalm 110:1 in this way:.

hi brothers and sisters,.
our 2004 year text, matt.
You know, it's funny: most of the "nice" elders who were more "loving" were those that I viewed as not taking the preaching work very seriously. You know, the happy elder with kids going to college and a nice warm house who puts in his 8 to ten hours of service a month, usually in a van eating a donut. It was a strange predicament for me -- a serious pioneer/MS dub -- to respect these men who obviously weren't putting their "all" into the ministry and yet were such nice fellas.
Seriously, I've noticed this for years.

doesn't satan win the cosmic bet between him and god?

the october 2003 christianity today has an article entitled "competing claims about islam...is it a religion of peace or of violence?
" selected quotes (no link available):sometimes the religion is shown as violent, promoting jihad (holy war), and providing theological justification for acts of terrorism.
at other times, especially when american adherents to islam are represented, the religion is described as one of peace.. "either view of islam can be demonstrated by just picking certain verses in the qu'ran and certain illustrations from history," fuller seminary professor dudley woodberry says.
Mulan, with all due respect to your friends could it be that they are taking a liberal view of Islam which Muhammed never intended? Kind of like "liberal" Christians who will distort the clear statements in the Bible to say something that the Bible writers did not mean when they wrote them.
Don't get me wrong, I think that it is GREAT that the majority of Muslims are peaceful, but are they viewing the Koran with unrealistic eyes? Baking their cake and eating it too?
Just a thought.

Mizpah said,
Christ never taught his followers to fight against the enemies of the Christians. In fact, he instructed his followers to love their enemies and pray for those who persecuted them.
True. But Christ also recognized the Yahweh of the Old Testament, a god who perpetrated violence, rape and genocide of neighboring tribes (including their women, children and babies!). Jesus was guilty by association if you ask me.
At least Islam is up-front about their violence. Christians just shove the violence part on to God's shoulders and wait for it to happen (Armageddon). Both are shameful, myopic and archaic belief systems.

it's funny, my brother-in-law, a very myopic and strict jw, said something to me once that i still feel has a kernel of truth to it even though it came from a braindead idiot.
"brad, i hated my twenties.
life really begins at 30.

Well, I've also learned not to make absolutistic comments, but I think there is a lot of truth in what he said, though the thought certainly isn't original to him. I know, for instance, that many people feel the teenage years and twenties are a time of frustration, radicalness, etc.
So, my question of the day is, What do you feel is the "ideal" age? When does life, "begin" and why do you feel that way? Of course, your comments will be subjective to your experience and that of people you know, but I still feel it has merit.
Me -- I'm 27 and I still feel life hasn't "really started" for some reason.
Thoughts?
