Guns. Well said Mr President, if only your countrymen had the same courage to consider changing course.
by nicolaou inive had to make statements like this too many times.
communities like this have had to endure tragedies like this too many times.
once again, communities [were harmed] because someone who wanted to inflict harm had no problem getting their hands on a gun.. lets be clear: at some point, we as a country will have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries.

It's sad how the same people who loudly insist America is a 'christian nation' cannot let go of violence. "He who lives by the [gun] will die by the [gun]" -

Why is a mass shooting in a church worse than other mass shootings?
by undercover ini'll preface this by saying that i was horrified by the news of the shooting in charleston, a town that i visit quite frequently, and i know where the church is.
i don't mean to make light of the situation, but my question is serious, after having watched news pundits, politicians, neighbors, friends, express shock, horror and outrage over the events.. they, like me, were shocked by the school shootings, and the theater shootings, and other mass shootings.
but i sense a different shock, a different reaction, to this event.

They were following their faith by 'welcoming the stranger' into their community. There's something disturbing about how Dylann Roof used that welcome against them. -

The incredibly white NAACP leader
by Simon inthis is a bizarre story.. there is a woman who is the local leader of the naacp who is obviously trying to mislead people into believing she is black who is actually white.
very white.. she obviously gets a tan regularly but looks more orange.
yes, orange really is the new black!.

I read today that Rachel was brought up in one of those fundamentalist homeschooling cults that uses 'breaking the child's will' as discipline, but is really physical child abuse.
I don't think this is an excuse for her fraud and it was right for her to lose her job, but I do understand now why she would want a new identity.

9 dead in ‘hate crime’ shooting at historic African American church in Charleston
by pronomono inhttp://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/06/17/white-gunman-sought-in-shooting-at-historic-charleston-african-ame-church/.
this is such a shame.
i've always thought about things like this happening because of how crazy some people are, especially in regards to religion.

My experience of christians and religion
by Doltologist inone or two of you have noticed that i use derogatory terms when talking about matters religion.
i offer no apology.
you do, however, deserve an explanation.. my father, bless him and now dead, was a survivor of belsen, the german concentration camp.

But dolt, you assumed done4good was religious. He isn't.
To borrow a religtard quote, how about removing that plank from the eye. ;)

Britain's Got Talent, Or Not, As The Case May Be.
by Doltologist inever wondered why people who really can't sing go for auditions to the tv show britain's got talent?.
i have and, for a while, it puzzled me.. then, this big light bulb went on inside me.. someone on the panel would often say to the contestant 'what made you think that you could sing?'.
the contestant would often say 'my friends tell me that i can'.. that's the problem these days.

I think the next generation needs less 'us and them' thinking, less enemies.
In my opinion 'political correctness' and tolerance are underrated values. Those who do, I suggest that you go on to any christard forum and, politely tell them that you are there to discuss religion and that you are an atheist. You will then see what extremism is all about. Then, after they have rounded on you, you'll be banned for life. Not just on their forum, on all christard forums because they will pass on your IP address to every christard form from here to wazoo and back.
This is not true. -

'Lord have mercy' That the Nazi army was made up mostly of baptised Christians is evidence of the failure of Christendom as civil religion. -

Are atheists more likely to be morally good than Christians?
by FusionTheism ini have no problem saying atheists and christians are equal.. but some people seem to have the belief that atheists are more likely to be morally good, or more likely to change the world for good, than christians and theists.. but what evidence do you have to support this claim?.
if atheism is what causes people to do great positive things for the world, then why weren't martin luther king, jr., william wilberforce, isaac newton, francis collins, barack obama, mother theresa, abraham lincoln, or john f. kennedy atheists?.

I don't know but introspection is always helpful. Whenever we think we derive our morality from the "group" we belong to, I think we are in danger of 'missing' our own evil. It is a dangerous path.
