It seems a reasonable enough hypothesis but should be tested as much as any other.

god-of-the-gaps. Should we or shouldn't we fiil in the gaps with God?
by KateWild inscience imo does not have all the answers.
when i discover gaps in science, it's easy for me, as a temporary measure to fill in the gaps with god.
i do this until i have learnt something new.. what about you?

How I recently handled JWs at my door
by Christian guy inthe jws stopped by my house a couple weeks ago on a saturday morning.
i knew that with others most likely waiting for them out in the car they probably did not then have much time to engage in any serious conversation.
so i let them talk while i feigned interest in what they had to say.

Adam, I don't follow your argument, if Paul said don't listen to anyone who declared a different good news and JWs do that, it's a problem for them.

Human Insanity
by fulltimestudent inis it sane to spend two trillion dollars or possibly four trillion dollars, and finish up in a worse situation, than when you started.. who could possibly be so stupid that they would do this?.
that's my reaction to a bbc (uk) news item - the heading caught my attention:.
us has left iraq broken.

Hi fulltimestudent,
A few years ago at a work seminar I heard a talk by Alastair Campbell, director of communications for Tony Blair, afterwards we had the opportunity to write out questions for Alastair to answer, my question was: 'given the state of Iraq and that there was no weapons of mass destruction there do you regret supporting the war in Iraq?' His answer: 'No, I believe Iraq is better off without Saddam Hussein'
I was outraged, he showed no remorse whatsoever, if I was him, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. Sadly there was no chance for follow up questions.
I agree, democracy failed and continues to fail by not locking up these people for war crimes. But I don't know the solution either...

Congrats unstop! Really pleased for you.
Fakesmile, the purpose of baptism in the JW religion is to initiate you into their organisation and bring you under the authority of the governing body. The purpose of a christian baptism is to free you from the authorities and the kingdoms of this world and incorporate you into the body and kingdom of Christ. So I would say, yes, Christian baptism definitely invalidates the JW one.
Also, whilst I must admit to having no memory of the baptism talk when I was baptised as a JW (10 years ago) the last baptism talk I heard, when I was actually paying attention, definitely made no mention of the Matthew 28 scripture at all.
And finally, a scripture calling baptism a 'dedication' doesn't actualy exist.

Congrats unstop, and great letter, this part:
"Love is a lot more than not killing and not having racial tension. Please read 1 st John 4:7. Everyone who loves has been born from God. So how can this apply to Jehovah’s Witnesses when most admit to not being born of God?"
Was particularly brilliant I thought.

60% of Chinese are atheist or agnostic. Many Chinese intellectuals like Confucianism.
by yadda yadda 2 inthat's about 816,000,000 chinese that are atheist or agnostic.
mindblowing.
how many of them have even heard of jehovah or jehovah's witnesses or the awake and watchtower magazines?.

Interesting stuff.
Christianity is the fastest growing religion in China, more people go to Church on Sundays in China then in the whole EU, which is surprising. Most of these are house churches which the government will tolerate as they're independent, but they generally don't like hierarchy church structures, which is why the Watchtower Society has struggled over there, demonstrating that Organisation is not always the best route to success I suppose.
When I was in Japan I met a family who's son had gone to China as a JW missionary, he had to go covert and wasn't allowed to phone home so they hadn't heard from him for 6 months, at the time I was really impressed by their sacrifice.

Great video.
Lots of foxes in the city I live in, you can occasionally hear them making a horrible scream-like sound.
