  i'd pick japanese over my polish/german/scottish heritage any day.

  Other peoples happiness.......

  it's so sad sometimes to see people question anothers happiness.

  there have been posts made about good things happening to our fellow posters here.

  posters questioning good fortune and happiness.

  Ooooh LW! LOL! You're treading lightly. Obi's a good guy and I don't think he meant any harm whatsoever. I find it disturbing that people would be afraid to share good news with this board because they are afraid of being attacked. That's silly. When I found a new job that I loved I posted it happily and got nothing but "congratulations". I think he was responding to Stacy's post about her impending nuptuals. I think most of us were concerned about her age and nothing more. She and I have concluded that because of pm's. I trust her to make the right decision. She's a very bright person. Broadly sweeping advice and criticism of people's posts and worrying about someone disagreeing with you is a bit neurotic. If people don't agree with me, and many don't, I usually hear about it via pm or email. I'm a grown up and I can handle it.

  i thought yall might be amused by this....well....not the first paragraph...that'll give ya the creeps!

  as a preface, being in the home health field, since 1986, i've cared for three different patients with scabies, a microscopic spider-like mite that burrows under the skin and proliferates profusely, bites, stings and itches like crazy and are really difficult to get rid of when one is caring for others who are bedridden and covered with them.

  the first time, it took me 4 months to get rid of them and then, only after leaving the job did i succeed.

  Oh geez Frannie! I've had both scabies and shingles and they both suck big time. I hope you enjoyed your shopping for YOU! Yes, I've had those kinds of days and I've had a break from them as of late...thankfully! Feel better. Sinus infections suck! I'm getting over mine right now so I understand.

  I'm pretty happy with my mix of Romanian and Norwegian. Kind of unusual and ethnic and all that stuff. I wouldn't mind being Asian. When I was a little girl I wanted to be Asian when I grew up...LOL! That was my standard of beauty. Long, dark hair, pretty eyes and a darker complexion. Instead I'm pasty white and blond. Ack!

  I guess I'm B, and F. I was baptised, never got DF'd or DA'd. I just faded away slowly. I don't believe in god but that doesn't mean he doesn't believe in me. Actually I have no clue so put me down as an agnostic.

  Obi, I suppose you're right. I guess you and I should compare definitions of criticism. You seem to think of it in a far more negative way than I do. When I ask for advice I expect both positive and negative reactions. I need to hear both sides. When someone is sharing joyful news I should just shut up though. I only offer critical thoughts when I think the person I am giving them to knows that I only mean it to be helpful, not hurtful. I've had quite a few negative experiences and I always want to protect everyone from having to experience the same. I'm an oldest child; what do you expect?

  Edited to add:

  I don't think most people here are negative when someone shares good news. I think the vast majority of people here are very friendly and supportive. I don't even think that most of the criticism that's offered is from people who can't stand to see others happy. To me that just seems a bit absurd.

  Thanks! I've sent him an email and I hope he responds. I know not everyone checks their email everyday so, I'm being patient. It's kind of cool as I haven't found any of my friends before and I'm really excited. We shall see.

  Hi! I saw Opeth live a few months ago with a friend. I had never even heard of them before. They were awesome! That guy really knew how to swear in English well.

  I wouldn't consider myself a metal head but I like a good amount of rock. I grew up on Metallica and the Dead Kennedy's. My favorite band is System of a Down. I've seen them twice and they just keep getting better.

  Like Rayzor, I usually prefer punk. My current fave is the (International) Noise Conspiracy. As long as it's loud I'm happy.
