Anyone Remember the Skating Parties From the 70's ?

here in the usa during the late 70's, witnesses would rent an entire skating rink and hundreds of kids would show up.

it was great fun and a chance to socialize without quoting scriptures.

it seems like just because some were engaging in fornication and smoking in the parking lots that the society put a stop to it.

Yes I remember those sunday night roller skating parties.

I went to a few of them, not too many.

My dad was a real strict dub back then looked down on any form of recreation as being from the devil.

have you had the "talk" with your children in regard to strangers and getting rides, looking for "lost" puppies, etc.?

i highly encourage you to do so.

there are many child abductions per year, and sometimes it is someone that is a family friend!

MANY QUESTIONS,Few Satisfying Answers.

throughout human history,tragedies and disasters have raised questions in peoples minds.today, many wonder how a good and loving god can seemingly remain passive in the face of so much suffering and injustice.. confronted with the reality of famine,war,sickness and death,many reject outright the notion of a creator who cares about mankind.nothing can excuse god for allowing the suffering of a child,unless,of cause,he does not exist.by far the simplest explanation for the holocaust ie.auschwitz,is that there is no god to intervene in human affairs,ie.the genocides in rwanda in 1994.. many questions,few satisfying answers.why does god not intervene to prevent bad things from happening?is it possible to believe in a god who stands by helplessly while millions of innocent people die and whole populations in the world are massacred and who does nothing to prevent it?.

i just recently recently received this email (yet again) but seeing as i am a "transplanted canucker" now living in the u.s., this struck me as alot more funny now because of interactions with my new american friends .

1. you are not offended by the term "homo milk".

(yes, i was quite intrigued by the us term 'whole milk') 2. you understand the phrase "could you pass me a serviette, i just dropped my poutine, on the chesterfield.

1995 "generation change", what were your early thoughts and what was said ?

i had been long gone by 1995, had i still been in , this would of definitely sent me packing, when the magazines came out in i believe nov 1995, what was your first or early reactions.

what was said from the platform and by the watchtower about this ?.

I didin't quite understand it at first. The article was quite vague.

I remember one of the elders trying to explain it from the platform and couldn't then he reached for the article and read it word for word.

When I finally understood all the implications of the change it felt like the rug was pulled from underneath me.

I don't understand how most Jw can just shrug this big change and continue like nothing has happened.
