are you trying to fade or otherwise distance yourself from the org, but have a spouse that is a loyal jw?
on various posts i read about some that are staying in the org, or having a difficult time because their spouse doesn't understand the change.
i'll begin...my wife doesn't understand how i can turn my back on all the good things i've gotten from the org.
I was what your wife is today. I accused my husband for years of being an apostate and threatened to leave him if he left the org.
He tried for ten years to help me out. He didin't give up and I am so grateful because today I am mentally free from the borg.
We have not faded yet because of family. But that is our goal.
Be patient and don't give up it takes some longer than others for the rose colored glasses to come off.

I believe that the FDS works for Jehovah and it is Jehovah?s sole prerogative to endorse and identify this entity.
I struggled with this for a long time.
After much study and meditation I no longer believe that the FDS works for God.
Each person had to decide for themselves.
I enjoyed your observations and I will save them for future references.

NEVER give up doing this. Keep trying and trying. My hubby did the same thing for years until I finally saw it.
Hubby also has to conduct book studies. Usually if the material is too sticky he declines and pretends he is sick.

Alternative service" -- for those who don't want to go door-to-door? (The hard-liners will say if you don't go door to door, you're not really supporting your congregation's coverage of its territory.)
You are absolutely right. That's what makes this term so stupid. You are still expected to go from door to door.
By the way at this assembly the DO said that the door to door work is the most successful avenue of speading their "propaganda", so door to door is still pushed heavily.

where i live, its not usual for people to "dress up," especially business people and executives, you are more likely to see them with a button up shirt, khakis, and one of those fleece vests on.
so, on the whole, jws look very out of place wearing their cheap suits (though a few elders didn't wear cheap suits and they made that known, "look at this, i got a spot on my new $200 designer shirt" -- really, something like this happened).
but what i did notice is that, in my area, dressing guidelines usually weren't followed, or enforced for that matter, for good looking women.
One time I brought a Bible study to an assembly and she could not understand why the women were dressed as if going to a ball.
I belonged to a foreign circuit and the sisters were always dressed to kill. Lots of chiffon and lace and sequin .
