  there was/is a sister in my old hall who was a pharmaceutical sales rep and she was a huge proponent of anything in the drug industry.

  when someone had a headache, she was the first to say "take an asprin.

  " now my husband and i are what you might call old hippies.

  I try to be balanced. I don't take natural products, because really there are not regulated. I try and cook from scratch. I try to minimize anything that comes from a box or can. I serve my family plenty of vegetable and fruit everyday and when I can I get locally grown. Not much of a fan of organics

  David Splane was at the international convention in Montreal sometime in the early 2000s (I can't remember what year it was).

  He also visited one of the local congs in Ottawa a couple of times over the past 10 years since his wife is related to one of the elders there.

  Anthony Morris gave the Canadian zone talk a few years ago. I can't remember exactly what he said in it other than he appeared very smug and I left the assembly hall thinking there's no way I'm surviving armageddon since I'm not pioneering. Luckily, I was already on the way out at that point and his talk just hastened my waking up.

  Apologies, I see that I was wrong and Canada has been graced by some of the elite after all.

  a brother from vancouver told me the GB would often visit their conventions quite often. of course, we never, ever saw them in the middle of nowhere in Winnipeg or Alberta

  I can see why they would gravitate to Vancouver as a stopover to Hawaii. I always remember Lloyd Barry dropping dead on a stage at an assembly in Hawaii. (just dessert for a man that was instrumental in the death of the Malawi brothers.

  I know those couples personally. They were not too happy going to Nunuvut. They are surviving on supplies their families are sending them.

  The reward of being a nice guy!

  today, an old jw friend came to visit a member of my family who is still active.

  i saw them leave together to run errands.

  when they left, she didn't say hi and barely looked at me.. after taking care of my cores around the house, i noticed that the sister had forgot to turn off the head lights of her car.

  Also, I believe a lot were expecting a governing body member. But Canada is not exciting enough for the magnificent 7. They would rather to go a tropical and exotic places. The only governing body member I ever remember coming to Canada was Freddy Franz way back in the early 1980's.

  Chronic relapse - what do I do?

  my first post here and unfortunately it is asking for help.. i was a born in jehovah's witness and from my earliest memories, i know i hated being one.

  i hated the embarrassment of being the "outsider" at school and i hated not being allowed to have any friends.

  of course i had the obligatory friends in the kingdom hall - none of whom were my age exactly and none of whom i would have personally chosen to be friends with if i had been left to pick them myself in a natural setting.

  It sounds a little irrational, but then again you were traumatized being in this religion. It's an obvious unresolved issue with you, one that you haven't met head on.

  A therapist may help you put things in their right prospective, so that you can move on from this.
