I don't think I truly understood what I was getting myself into. I was 13 when I was baptized. What can a 13 year old kid really know about a lifelong decision like that? I had some knowledge but certainly not the implications.

Did You Really Understand What You Were Getting Into When You Got Baptized?
by minimus inthe majority of people who become jehovah's witnesses, really have no idea what they've gotten themselves into.
did you truly understand those baptismal vows that you made?

The Incessant Drumbeat
by Room 215 inmy wife just got back from her meeting, left the latest kingdom ministry on the table for me to look at; alas it's another neurotic, unremitting helping of guilt-slathering and ``do more, do more, and then more.
'' reonounce all personal comforts and ambitions to the vital task of alerting your fellow humans to the ``fact" that unbeknownst to men, jesus stealthily assumed rightful rulership of the earth almost 90 years ago and will intervene here any time now.
and the 04/01/03 watchtower?

Room 215,
Up until about 9 months ago, I was like your wife. My husband (Apocalypse) has known the real truth about the troof for many years. I could not see it. I know now how hard and frustrating it was for him. We were really living divided. Now my eyes are opened. I've seen things for myself. Perhaps your wife and kids will see it too. I feel for you.
Don't forget to give her little tid-bits. That's what my husband did to me. He would ask a pointed question, and leave it . For example he asked me: Since Jesus has been ruling since 1914 how many years are left of his 1000yr rule?., or what is a blood fraction and why do you think the society allows them now? Did you know Watchtower is affiliated with UN? Often I would burst out with anger. But I would churn these in my mind.
Deprogramming takes a long time. Especially if Its the only thing you've known. It took a long time for me. Finally my eyes really opened up. Now I don't know how I could not see it before. Perhaps your wife and family will some day see it too.
Take care

CHEVYSNTATS,
Thanks for your kind words. I like myself a lot better now that I am a fake publisher and lead a true "DOUBLE LIFE".
ACSOT,
Is it not wonderful to be off the frantic JW merry-go-round?

Why Do Jehovah's Witnesses View Disfellowshipping The Same As The Jews?
by minimus injw's are so fond of quoting the scripture about treating a sinner "just as a man of the nations and as a tax collector".
since this was clearly an unloving jewish practice, why does the society feel obliged to use this jewish practice in disfellowshipping??
?

minimus,
This a very interesting question. The more I think about it the more I realize that it's not only their view of disfellowshipping that is the same as the Jews, but their whole structure is based on old Jewish ways. For example the Jews had the scripture but also their man-made oral laws. JW's profess to have the Scriptures, but they also have loads of organizational rule and regulations.

No! I could never be accused of living a double life. I tried hard and sincerely to do whatever was required, and expected of me. I pioneered, helped out, commented, studied every publication that came out, put in practice every suggestion given etc. etc. I was the perfect JWmodel.

My husband and I still go for the sake of our elderly parents and longtime friends. But we have learned to tune things out quite well. We mastered the art of appearing that we are listening but in reality we are not . Its a great place to catch up on your Bible reading! Do we feel like hipocrites? you better believe it. One of these days this insanity will end.

Mackey,
Could you accept her just as she is. Put the beliefs aside. Among JW there are many so-called divided family that function very well. As time goes on many JW 's are realizing that this organization is not what it says it is. I think that in the next little while many will realize on their own. Change has to come from within. It cannot be forced on you by someone else. Believe me, my husband tried opening my eyes for years. I had to see things myself.
If you really want her, you may need to accept her with her baggage.
