okay, so i was at the ministry school/service meeting last night (as to why and all that see my answer to blondies watchtower review this week), which actually was not totally horrendous since i brought some essay questions to work on for a university class im taking.
i probably looked so theocratic (hehehe).
so during the service meeting theres a part on bad association, being careful at school, at work, blah blah blah.

glad you brought that out. I also was at the meeting this week and heard that talk. Every time I hear that account about Dinah I get a sick feeling in my gut.
Wt always uses that story as a scare tactic for the youth.
Seems to me it was not against her will, and she was not raped.
Funny how WT never focuses on the orrendeous acts of her brothers.

Sometimes in the back of my mind I still wonder whether I made a mistake about the Watchtower. Could there be some truth to it? Are we in the wrong?
Then, I read a post like yours and I get my sanity back. How could I even for one moment think that the JW have an ounce of truth?

many times a new one will post a question to what the witnesess teach on a matter or will simply make a statement.
many times you have to wonder where they get their ideas from as regards to what the society teaches on a matter.
many times they are simply wrong, or have the understanding twisted.

You are very correct . Today's average JW is very illiterate when it comes to JW teaching. When I look around at the kingdom hall, most seem brain dead. When they comment they just parrot what is written. Even when it comes to basic watchtower doctrine, they just don't get it.

Ray's books did it for me. I was a very loyal dub.
When my hubbie (apocalypse) introduced them to me, I was so scared to even pick them up.
He handed me the books and a container of headache medication.
I read for two weeks and downed a few pills.
He didin't say a word. He didin't have to.
The scales came off big time.
I am grateful to Ray for what he as done for many of us.

In the early 70's, I had an orange paisley little suitcase I called my bookbag. It was unique. I still have it all these years later. My kids use as storage for toys.
Having pioneered for so many years, I know how valuable a bookbag was. It was a status symbol. The real cool bookbags were the nice leather ones with the shoulder straps. When you went to a door you looked like an executive.

I bet it was news to the 2 elders that the "new" book they want to study with you is nothing more than the old "United in Worship".
It was probably a revelation to them. I hope they go home and compare the old with the new, and stop hailing it as a new provision from Jehovah.
