with all the talk in the organization about the end being so close, and we have all heard this story over and over again for years, as a young/loyal jw, did you think you would see your 60th birthday.. if we were to walk into the kingdom hall today and poll all the jw's under 30, and ask them "will you see your 60th birthday", what kind of response would you get ???.
armageddon is not coming, the year 2014 will pass, as will 2025, 2075, 2100, and even 3000. .
would love to hear experiences from some of the older ones on this board, who probaly thought the same thing when they were young.
I didin't think I would see my 16th birthday in this system or get married or have kids or grow old .
Well 16 came and went. I been married for many years and my kid is almost a teenager and I am growing old.
I'll probably see 60 and I hope that by that time wt will be a thing of the past.
how many of you have had to keep up the facade on the outside,while on the inside you were dying?.
the facade being putting on a happy face in front of the elders and others while knowing what you know about the society and all the harm it has done.. how long did you keep up this facade before it began to affect your well-being?.
for me it lasted about a couple of years before i started to do the fade and have started to feel better.. blueblades
I am still keeping the facade up. I don't know how much longer I can keep it up. I wonder that myself sometimes.
I know I don't want to keep living in jw world for too much longer.

I have a copy of Greg Staffords "3 disseration". I did not like it.
Greg seems to be sitting on the fence. On the one hand he seems to realize the flaws and lies of watchtower, but on the other hand he appears to be defending it.
Just my illiterate opinion. I didin't like the book at all.

You have expressed my own sentiments in your post.
The enormity of what the org had done to us is sometimes overwhelming.
There have been days where I have been consumed by my jw experience and wondered how I could have been so blind and gullible to have believed such stupidity.
I hope that one day we can really put it all behind us.

or rather, life is new to us, normal life that is.

Welcome to this forum of friends. I read your story with much interest.
I am happy that the two of you have seen the light together at the same time. It makes things so much easier.
My hubby realized what a sham this org is 10 years before I did. He kept it all inside for the sake of keeping peace in the family. We would have some heated arguments. Me always accusing him of being an apostate.
Last year I finally realized for myself what he had known for so long. I am so happy to be mentally liberated from the clutches of this cult but I wish I could have seen it 10 years ago like he did.
That you both saw it at the same time is truly amazing for me.

used to meet after a greek congregation and the pungent smell of garlic would put you in a coma.

what is the stupidest thing a jw ever told you?
we all know that they say a lot of stupid things, but what really topped the cake?.
for me, it was an elder telling me i was progressing really well when my meeting attendance was down and my field service hours were slipping.
You shouldn't be driving a rusty car to the kingdom hall because it would detract from the appearance of the hall.
hi everyone, okay i need to calm down.
just got back from a relatives anniversary formal.
they are jw's and when i walked into the reception hall it was my worst nightmare.
"Forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing".
Just remember they are so brainwashed in thinking that it is only by being a jw and going to meetings that one will get salvation.
Jw's are the most narrow minded people on the face of this earth.
So you have to forgive their ignorance.
