What lunacy!!
I know plenty right now that can't retire because they stuck with low paying job so they could put the "kinnom" (seriously this is how the COBE pronounces kingdom) first. Now they regret it and they complain that they will have to work into their eighties to survive.
But the "kings of the hill" will still ask for their "pound of flesh".

Finally sending a letter to the elders today
by Suraj Khan infigured i'd give them a shot to explain why i was expelled from the congregation 23 years ago without counsel or a jc.

i attended the xxxx congregation in the mid-1980s as a teenaged unbaptized publisher.

Suraj: thanks for the kind words. It's hard to wrap my mind around the whole shunning business. I see it now for the cruel behaviour that it actually is.
As to being afraid of apostates--yes I was too. Watchtower loves to villify innocent human beings whose only fault has been the ability to think for themselves.
I remember as a child my father would say that the biggest apostate/enemy the watchtower ever had was Ray Franz, who had single handledly tried to take over the watchtower. Imagine that. I remember how fearful I was about that. Years later, when I had opportunities to correspond with Ray and speak to him personally, I realized what a slanderous thing this was.
I believe that in the last couple of years there is a change in the hearts of many innocent sincere jw when it comes to the shunning practice. Deep down inside many know that this is very inhumane and they are "bucking the trend" and doing what is right just like your family is doing to you. I hope that you can enjoy some great times with them.

Your letter is very respectful and professional. I feel sick when I hear of shunning stories such as yours. Like Lois , I also am ashamed of all the shunning I did as a a pious jw . I shunned many people. Shame on me!!.

the court document contains a facsimile copy of correspondence between christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses and the body of elders in the menlo park congregation on pages 42 and 43.. page 54 contains a facsimile copy of a letter re: an investigation conducted by the city of menlo park over a complaint of "fraud and embezzelment".

Does anyone know what is happening with Italy's (Rome) Bethel???

the word is that everyone but the most senior members will be let go.

Joel, the bethel is operational-although I don't think it does any printing. The North American heavies have been sent to iron out internal problems---I don't believe its apostasy.

thanks LaFrancia--I remember on the tour of the italian bethel how proud they were of their "vino" at meals. Also both Farneti and Franceschetti visited Canada a number of times.
