  Remember when you could wear casual clothes to the congregation book study?

  i would get home from work,eat dinner,shower and put on jeans,a shirt and gym shoes to the book study.

  then,one day a letter was read where men would need to wear a suit and tie and the woman would have to wear dresses.

  it was stated in a letter that the change was due to, '' giving a better witness to anyone who would watch us walking into our local congregation or a neighbor's house.''.

  I don't ever remember wearing really casual clothing at the book study. Although most sisters had a hierarchy in their wardrobe. The best for Sunday and Tuesday , then the book study skirt and top and of course the service every day clothes. I guess this would have been a regional thing.

  I know my husband would refuse to wear his jacket and when we attended the bookstudy in a private home, he would wear a sweater. Those were the nights that he wasn't allowed to read or pray. Well that was just fine with him

  There are several couples that I know that got the booth from bethel and are now special pioneers. I will poke around to see if their status will change in the next couple of months.

  are there really 8 million jw's?

  last circuit assembly there was 700+ present and 1 baptized.. recently there was a foreign language assemble of over 500 and 1 baptized.. in the last 5-10 years i haven't been to one assembly where there has been more than a handful baptized.

  at the memorial all i see are the same old faces that have been coming since the flood.. the hall complex i attend has 6 congregation and several groups-there is negative growth.

  when you factor in the demographically aging folk and the many who have already passed away, i don't know where they get the 8 million.. i know that most of the growth is from the developing countries, but still i think they are fudging their numbers.

  yesterday i was with a group of brothers that wanted my advice on re-roofing a home.

  three of them were ministerial servants.

  My Mom Is Dying

  i just wanted to say that my dear 89 year old mom is terminally ill and will soon pass.

  she is on morphine and hanging on.

  she has been a devout witness for about 60 years and a wonderful mother.

  Reasons for leak and building stop story

  i have some feeling about the am2015 leak and the recent building stop story going arround.. it wouldn't surprise me that the information is a calculated leak.. - jw's are informal informed about the changes and adopt them informal.. - the building stop influences the concience of jw's for donating more money.. at the other hand, maybe there has occured a financial disaster for example they invested bilions in volkswagen.. gorby.

  heard from other forums that the halt is to channel all donations to the completion of Warwick. Screw the little witness group in some remote area that needs a roof over their meetings. Send all money to the pigs that need better things in the farmers house.
