the funeral was this morning and i went.
there was one jw family there-one.
You are so wonderful for going, Deb! How sad that these ignorant people don't realize a funeral is for the LIVING! That by not attending, they are turning their backs on their alleged brothers and sisters. How horrible that even in the midst of the pain of losing their loved one, the family has to be reminded that their "loving spiritual family" can't forget their bias and discrimination long enough to give them a hug.

as some of you know i have been have a few health problems lately.. i went to the doctor today to pick up my application for a handicapped parking permit.
when we talked he said he would sign it for a year.. well he signed it as "permanent disability".
in one way this is good because if they don't figure out the problem and find a solution i won't have to keep applying for it.

i looked at our little local paper today and saw a young man had died.
he was the 20 year old son of jw's that used to be very dear friends.
i noticed that the funeral is to be held at the local funeral home and not at the kingdom hall.

I'm so sorry, what a sad situation. It's horrible that a religion would go out of its way to villify the dead, especially to impose upon the conscience of one who might want to speak at their funeral. To suggest that someone should have to consult their elders is ridiculous and controlling to the nth degree.
You showed true love and compassion in going to the visitation, and I'm sure it brough comfort to those who saw you.

I felt the same way. He just seemed to ooze class and humanity, and even in the roles he played, I always seemed to sense something "good" about him. My son loves Little Bill, I wonder who could possibly replace him as Big Bill?
