mr michael jacksons trial starts in a couple of weeks.

I believe he will be found guilty, because he has already been tried in the court of public opinion, and lost.

I don't believe he molested this particular boy. This child and his family went on TV emphatically denying any wrongdoing on Michael's part, and saying how much he did for them, then a short time later, they accuse him of molesting the boy whose life they said he saved. Add into that all the scams the family has already pulled, and they just aren't believable.

I think MJ is mentally unstable, but I'm totally uncoinvinced that he's a pedophile.

Are you my Daddy?

here's my situation: .

i have four children (10,7,6,4).

my wife (now ex-wife) and i were not getting along very well five years ago.

Wow, I'm sorry you have to go through this. As a woman, I would never NEVER never say this to my husband / baby daddy, no matter how angry I was. I think (my opinion only) that for her to have said it, and said it more than once, may indicate that there is at least a chance that you are not the father.

As for the paternity test, I guess it depends on what you want to get out of it. If you love the little girl, and would consider her your daughter regardless of the biology, why bother? If it turns out that she IS your daughter, there is the potential that your ex-wife could use your taking the test as a way of turning your daughter against you at a later date. And, she may try to stop any visitation you currently have if you take a test that proves she's not yours.

Not an easy situation by any means. All I can do is wish you the best, and beg you, please, do whatever you possibly can not to hurt that little girl. None of this is her fault.

as mentioned in my other thread, my daughter lena is having brainsurgery on monday, jan 24. the surgery will last 6-7 hours, so i'm hoping the board members will be willing to make a special effort tomorrow to send positive thoughts, healing energy, good wishes and prayers her way.

we are asking that the surgeon's hands be delicate and skillful and that lena does not bleed overmuch and that brain damage be minimal (if not non-existant).

surgery begins at 8 am eastern standard time (us), but we have to have her to the hospital by 6 am, so this is "good night!

physical discipline

anybody's jw parents ever use that "don't spare the rod" song and dance as an excuse to beat the living shit out of you?

my parents used to relish in the whole physical punishment thing.

i guess the question i'm trying to get at is, do you think wts promotes and encourages physical violence in the home?

I was hit as a kid, but it didn't have anything to do with being a JW. Maybe it's a cultural thing, but in the 60s and 70s, almost every black parent we knew hit their kids, usually with a belt. It was called a whipping (pronounced whupping), and it was simply accepted. I'm talking about people in the neighborhood, none of them witnesses. There are experts who say it is a holdover from when blacks were whipped as slaves on plantations. Surprisingly, in my hall, most of the white parents were never seen hitting their kids, no matter how much they misbehaved.

It didn't especially bother me to get spanked, actually. It didn't happen a lot, I wasn't a bad kid. And since everyone else I knew got them, I didn't feel any special punishment was being directed at me, nor did I feel it was because of being JW.

My son is 4, and I have never spanked him, and sincerely hope I will never have to, BUT, I leave it open as an option if the circumstances require it.

the hospital chaplain just called.

my baby's body has been returned to the hospital following post-mortem examination at a specialist children's hospital.

so, the funeral can go ahead soon.. we have opted for a cremation.

We didn't have an actual "funeral" for my daughter. We hired a boat, invited close family and friends, and scattered her ashes at sea. We didn't read scriptures, we had the captain read a letter we had written about her, sharing our thoughts, and our love for her. There wasn't music (which I regret), but there are a couple of songs that always bring her to mind.

somewhere along 1992, 1993, 1994-- somewhere in there-- i was going through some personal shit.

what i thought would be my one-and-only marriage was pretty much coming to its end and, because of tales my first wife had put in the wind (to cover her own tail/tale), rumors were swirling all around me.

i've never felt as lost as i felt at that point in my life.

I would be interested in the rest of the story. Did Betty terminate her relationship with you like a good JW when you were df'd? Or did she show some backbone and maintain the love?

I reminisce like this a lot also, but I don't seem to come up with as many good memories as you do. Most of mine are peppered with people not telling me something until way after it happened (like my JW boyfriend cheating on me, but one of my best friends not telling me), or writing me off for being honest (well, if you don't have a relationship with Jehovah, you can't have one with me".

There are really so few people who actually loved me unconditionally .............

2 year old daughter slips from mothers grip

here in southern california we have been just pummeled with rain.. here is the saddest story that i have heard here.. a lady is driving her vehicle with her 2 year old, and i think a 10 and 14 year old.

along comes a barrier, blocking people from driving through a flooded street.

she decides to go around the barrier, and gets stuck.

I'm with SheilaM. I'm tired of parents not putting seat belts on their kids, leaving them in the car or at home alone, driving unsafely, and then when something terrible happens, not being held accountable for their actions because they're "suffering".

Do I think this woman is suffering? Yes. Did she bring it upon herself? Yes. Barriers are there for a reason, and now her daughter is gone because the mother CHOSE to go around it. She broke the law, she should be charged.

I hope that doesn't sound harsh, but I have really, really had it with people willingly and knowingly putting their children at risk, and then cry when they lose them.

i am not one who will ever bother to waste my time heaping praise on the jw religion as though it were some kind of improvement on society.

i have no qualms in saying that it was, is, and always will be a dangerous religion ?

By the way, while I know the WTS was responsible for extreme pain and suffering (and still is), I often wonder if those dishing out the pain are just using that as an excuse? If they didn't have the WTS, would they have found another religion that taught extreme submission (there are many)? And what about those who don't pretend to have a religion, but just dish out abuse anyway?

I was watching a stand up comedian whose wife I used to work with, and his life was totally fu***** up. The show is called "Norman Rockwell is Bleeding" and the comedian is Christopher Titus. His act is based upone his real life, and boy, talk about abuse and suffering! Would a religion have stopped his abuse, or made it worse?

I guess I'm going back to another poster's thoughts, maybe it's the people, and the religion is just an excuse.

Best News for a Mother!

i know this is so stupid and many of you will think i am nuts but i can't contain myself!.

my daughter is finally potty trained!!!!!!!!

Congratulations!! Gotta love the milestones!

Now, can anyone help me teach my son to wake himself up at night and go? He's perfect during the day, but wears a pull up at night.

We stop him from drinking about an hour before bed, and make sure he goes right before he gets into bed. He has some good nights, but not nearly enough to take the pull ups off.
