Seen any good movies lately?
by StinkyPantz inthe husband and i went to see "house of the dead" the other night, and 30 minutes into it we had to leave because it was so horrible.
rarely have i seen such bad acting outside of a highschool drama performance, and i have never left during a movie.. thing is, i love going to the movies, so it was a major disappointment.
have you seen any good ones lately?

I came to Australia from UK when I was 14 - my bestest friend then was my school friend Jane who I found out still is still my best friend....and how? Well when I went to Uk in 2001 I tracked her down and `rocked` up to the door and after a few cups of tea and talk of our lives - it was as if we had`nt even been gone - EVEN AFTER 27 YEARS!!!!!!! Now we keep in contact on the net every day..........

Elders once a year check-up on DF ones.
by Blueblades inwe got this call from one of the elders who df'd one of our loved ones.he wanted to know where so and so lives, phone # etc.this after two and a half years.they wanted to make contact to see if that one wanted to return to the congregation.
( not like the prodigal, who was restored on the spot by his father, rather ,by sitting for six months in the back of the hall and given the silent treatment.
he admitted tha elders can't read the heart and make mistakes 'mistakes' destroying someones life is a mistake??

Are the British Smelly?
by refiners fire innow of course, i, being british myself by birth do not believe the british are smelly or dirty, however, i must tell our british brothers that there is a recurring stereotype about the englishman that is held by australians.
they pull it out of the hat like a white rabbit, constantly.
"poms only have a bath once a week.

Well I dont recall bathing every day as a kid in England, and I dont recall there being showers.
.....I remember baths BEFORE or AFTER my sisters depending who was the dirtiest at that time....but only once a week...in between that it was washes daily.....hair only once a week with the bath!..
When I was in UK 2001 my family had graduated to daily baths..but a relunctance to have showers...even though they had them for a show piece..I guess olf habits die hard.

For those without mothers
by Lady Lee inmothers day can bring up many issues for some of us.
for some their mothers have passed away and the opportunity to say i love you in person is forever lost.. for others our mothers are lost to the borg.
in fact, we may never have had the opportunity to celebrate a mother's day with them.

I`m sorry to hear about your Mum Prisca ..........must have been tough for you I agree...
But its just as hard to have a mother physically and not have her around emotionally.......one day when my dub mother rang me which is about once a year, if that, I said to her that all I wanted from her was a coffee out now and again, something that I consider a `normal` event for families.
Naturally her response was `well you know I can`t do that`......how sad!
For over 20 years I have never given her anything for any type of `worldly` celebration....she would return it I`m sure.....this upsets me greatly...so the best thing is to just `pretend` that these celebrations are for others........It tends to hit me more when my colleagues and friends ask what I`m doing for mothers day etc etc.....I feel like I`m missing out!!!

RF.its so sad you lost your Dad this way......how traumatic for you and the rest of the family.....the closest I came to knowing someone was my grandson - the operation was major skull surgery and he was only 3 months old.
My daughter although not a dub is lived as a dub with my mother for 4 years, she is greatly influenced by my `annointed` mother and refused blood right up to the last half hour when the surgeon made an ultimatum that he would only proceed with sugery if he got consent to use blood if it was required. My understanding is that the blood, if needed, wouldn`t be immediately but later if my grandsons blood count fell rapidly.
My Mother attended the hospital and when she found out what had transpired began to claim that the surgeons and hopsital had taken away my daughters rights. Hmmmm..not good when a baby is in the operating theatre at the time. I for one thank the brilliant skill of the surgeon for saving my grandsons life. These life events happen even when one has left the org as I have over 20yrs ago, which is sad to think that a situation such as this should be bringing a family together for support.
When I was a dub however, I refused blood even when I had a gall bladder removed at the age of 21, a scary thought really as I know I was only doing it for my mothers sake.

Refiner - "Well I think youve mentioned before that this guy has some kind of issue with you personally, and it seems to be that way. I think you are right in launching retaliatory proceedings. I myself would start recording in a note book and registering officially what is occuring'.
Thanks Refiner I have and will continue to record these `ocurrances` but this incident was not called for so the grievance procedure has commenced..meanwhile I`m on stress leave because of it - after all I love the job and my clients aren`t the problem its the damm co-workers and politics that get to me....I know you know only to well what I mean having had a few probs yourself at work - thanks for the support!
