You're welcome ...
by Simon ini figured i'd shut the site down for a couple of hours to encourage everyone to do their xmas shopping.
the error message was a subtle hint, that's what "500 error" means ... go shopping.. whatever rumours you hear, it definitely wasn't that someone deployed a quick update before going on a 1.5 hour car ride to pick someone up and didn't think that the page they tested, to check it was all working after the update, happened to be cached.
no siree bob, not that, na hah.. anyway, you're welcome for the extra chance to, erm, shop..

Living with Your Parents Well Into Adulthood the Norm?
by Sorry ini don't want to seem like a jerk.
i know full well economic times are not the greatest.
there's no shame in struggling and staying with your family until you're back on your feet.

I think it was an assembly talk years ago that specifically discouraged single Witnesses from moving out of the family home unless they were doing it for spiritual reasons, for example moving where the need was greater. And, IF I remember correctly, they may have been encouraged to share a place with someone who would be spiritually upbuilding rather than living alone. Does anyone remember anything similar being brought out? -

Sunday's WT...funny, but sad for Dubs...
by DATA-DOG indespite my often smart-ass exterior, i really don't have any desire to see the r&f dubs suffering.
i really do worry about the mental and emotional turmoil that they will experience, if and when the wtbts is truly exposed as a scam.
i know it seems unlikely to happen, but you never know..... anyway, the wt for the week was cringe-worthy to say the least.

I haven't read the actual paragraph, but it sounds to me as if the illustration of the ball on the table was not meant to prove that the earth hangs upon nothing but instead is trying to show "how difficult it would be to convince someone that the Earth 'hangs upon nothing'", thus making it seem unlikely that ancient people would have figured it out on their own.

pale.emperor,
I'm afraid I can't read your post's captions on my phone. Could you possibly use a different font? Or could someone copy what they say? Thanks!

The Anointed Class: Do They Have Spirits?
by Cold Steel ini realize that the anointed class inherits heaven while the great crowd inherits a renewed planet earth, but how and when are the anointed chosen?
are these people born with spirits or do they grow them as they live?
when they die, they don't sleep but go right to heaven, right?
-

The Society teaches that when the anointed die, they are resurrected as spirit creatures. (They teach that the spirit that all people have is the breath of life, which is impersonal.)

The most sick statement put in JW print
by Chook inwt 1973 p568.
"did you know, for example, that mothers and fathers that stroke the genitals of their fretful babies to keep them quiet are unwittingly encouraging them to become maturbators later on?".
what sick fu... writing this article thought the the average person did this to keep kids quiet..

The Society didn't invent this idea. "The authoritative Growing Up: A Cross-Cultural Encyclopedia covers 87 cultures in which it says there is no incest, just adults playing with, stroking...their baby's genitals." http://www.geocities.ws/kidhistory/childhod/chch72dm.htm

Elders Advice Backfired And Now Im The Happiest I've Ever Been
by pale.emperor injust wanted to update you guys of the amazing couple of weeks i've had in recovering from the cult.. i was attending the meetings still just so i could see my daughter in the kingdom hall and have her sit we me half the time.
i had no intention of ever becoming a jw again but was hoping to be re-instated and just not turn up ever again so i could at least see my family.
but then an elder said something to me that changed all that.

Giordano, that "dislike" on your comment was supposed to be a "like". It's unbelievable that the elders wouldn't consider a medical emergency to be "necessary family business" that would justify "allowing" a disfellowshiped person to possibly come in contact with Witnesses.

Brother & Sister-in-Law Return to Kingdom Hall After Two Decades, Quickly Get Stumbled
by TMS init was a mild surprise, learning that a brother and sister-in-law had began re-associating with jehovah's witnesses after at least 25 years of being away.
the couple, of hispanic ethnicity, are in their early 60's, with their five children all grown and independent.
the family had been considered nominal jws, infrequently attending meetings, rarely in field service, but using the annual convention as their family vacation.

If this Witness wasn't qualified to mow the lawn, then certainly the woman who was known to be a sinner had no right to wet Jesus' feet with her tears, dry them with her hair, and pour perfume on them. How could Jesus have allowed it! Oh, wait, it was the Pharisee who thought Jesus was wrong to let her do such a thing.
