"My mother in law puts a napkin on her head when praying at meal times...."
Women should not use a napkin as a head covering when praying. They should have a scarf, hat, etc., available.
i was just lying here thinking about mind control and thought it'd write a list just to see how much the wts does try to control every aspect of people's lives.
some of the things i've come up with are:.
xmas,.

earlier this week a new post on this forum announced that the 2017 worldwide annual service report was available on jw.org.
wow - that's earlier than the statistics for the 2016 service year which appeared in the 2017 yearbook last january!
good effort, jw organization!
If I remember correctly, in a yearbook published in the late '70s or early '80s was a chart showing the number of publishers for the previous several years. I think it showed a decrease for the years following 1975, finally followed by an increase.
I believe, however, the caption said there had been a steady increase, which claim wasn't supported by the chart. It bothered me that the yearbook appeared to be twisting the facts, trying to give the impression that the disappointments concerning 1975 had not caused a decline in publishers.
Is there anyone with access to the old yearbooks who could check this out?
Thanks!
i'm at the recorded meeting right now.
trying to hide my disgust sitting up front listening to geoffrey jackson quibble about the pharisaical minutai of sanctification vs. vindication.
the audience is thrilled that they now have 'permission' to say god's name can be vindicated.
pale.emperor:
Years and years ago, we would say that God's name would be vindicated. Then we were taught that, no, we shouldn't say that. Instead, God's name would be sanctified and his sovereignty vindicated.
i figured i'd shut the site down for a couple of hours to encourage everyone to do their xmas shopping.
the error message was a subtle hint, that's what "500 error" means ... go shopping.. whatever rumours you hear, it definitely wasn't that someone deployed a quick update before going on a 1.5 hour car ride to pick someone up and didn't think that the page they tested, to check it was all working after the update, happened to be cached.
no siree bob, not that, na hah.. anyway, you're welcome for the extra chance to, erm, shop..
You're so thoughtful!
i don't want to seem like a jerk.
i know full well economic times are not the greatest.
there's no shame in struggling and staying with your family until you're back on your feet.
despite my often smart-ass exterior, i really don't have any desire to see the r&f dubs suffering.
i really do worry about the mental and emotional turmoil that they will experience, if and when the wtbts is truly exposed as a scam.
i know it seems unlikely to happen, but you never know..... anyway, the wt for the week was cringe-worthy to say the least.
I haven't read the actual paragraph, but it sounds to me as if the illustration of the ball on the table was not meant to prove that the earth hangs upon nothing but instead is trying to show "how difficult it would be to convince someone that the Earth 'hangs upon nothing'", thus making it seem unlikely that ancient people would have figured it out on their own.
your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to go onto jw.org.
take one of their pics from any publication and add your own speech bubbles or caption.. here's mine.

pale.emperor,
I'm afraid I can't read your post's captions on my phone. Could you possibly use a different font? Or could someone copy what they say? Thanks!
i realize that the anointed class inherits heaven while the great crowd inherits a renewed planet earth, but how and when are the anointed chosen?
are these people born with spirits or do they grow them as they live?
when they die, they don't sleep but go right to heaven, right?
The Society teaches that when the anointed die, they are resurrected as spirit creatures. (They teach that the spirit that all people have is the breath of life, which is impersonal.)
