I believe that God created the Universe. I believe he spoke it into existance and then created man from dust. I think that it is possible that the 7 days spoke of in the bible were not 24 hour days, but there is something else to consider. If they were 24 hour days, God created everything old. I mean the trees were created already bearing fruit and ready to be used. So perhaps that would make the earth seem older than it is. For example Adam was not born, he was created as a man. Even if he was say 25, he was still techncally only one day old. I am a christian, but I tend to believe even if I wasn't it would be hard to swallow evolution. I mean if you threw a bunch of trash in your trashcan and waited around for billions of years, what's the likelyhood that humans would develop? Even scientists agree that nothing comes from nothing. So, if their were atoms out in space, how did they get there? If there were meteors, how did they get there? If there was a slime that we all crawled out of, where did it come from? The universe does not suggest chaos, the universe suggests order. The thought out plan of a mind. There are many factors other than the ones mentioned. We also should remember that after all these years evolutionis still just a theory. Nothing discovered has been enough to elevate it to fact. The missing link is still missing. We still can't make an eyeball. And many many other things, but these are the main quick reasons why I tend to accept creationism over evolution.

Evolution vs. Creation (on Earth)
by StinkyPantz ini didn't necessarily start this thread as a debate but moreso as kind of a survey.
i just wanna know what people think and a brief reason why.
i want to know how you think life originated on the earth.

Money and happiness?
by eyeslice ineveryone in the truth, knows it is the "love of money", not money itself that is wrong.
i am well aware that money in itself does not bring happiness.. what i detect though amongst the witnesses is almost an antipathy to money and wealth.
one sister i was speaking to the other day complained about all the spending that goes on at xmas.

I think the passage says it all. It is the love of money, not money itself. You are so right about that. I think too many religions take a couple of passages and make religions on them without focusing on the bible as a whole. Look at all the people in the bible that were blessed with extreme wealth and possessions. Abraham was wealthy just as an example. God also tells us that we are to take care of our children, not the other way around. In other words, be wise with your money, and leave something to your children. We are also told that God has plans to bless us far beyond what we could imagine. God tells us that if we are evil and no how to give good gifts to our children, than how much more will he give us good gifts. The list of verses go on and on. We are supposed to put God first, and yes it is true that the love of money is evil. Having said that, how to people get the impression that God expects us to starve and live in a shack to prove we are faithful? I think some people will have more than others. You may never get to live in a million dollar home, but the Lord knows you need food and shelter. He will provide. Usually he provides through his people. Yet another theme in the bible obviously lost on the JW's. Charity. We are specifically commanded to pay special attention to orphans and widows. I think the nitty gritty truth is that their is no need for anyone today to be hungary or homeless. There are too many people in this world(not just JW's) who have way more thanthey could ever need or use. But what do they do with it? They hord it and refuse to give any of it away. Or if they do, only a small percentage of what they could afford. This is the ugly truth about the love of money. If everyone followed biblical principles regarding money and charity, we would see much less poverty. I will now get off of my soapbox.

Did a stranger baptize you?
by JH inshouldn't it have been the person who gave you your bible study, that should have baptized you?
in matthew 28:19,20 it says "go therefore and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the father, the son, and the holy spirit.. the way i see it, it should have been the one who gave you the biblical knowledge, that should have baptized you.
making disciples is phase one, and baptizing them is phase two.

Sandra Bullock jumps on some guy at the pageant who turns out to not be the suspect, cause he had a gun.

I think there is a special place in hell for rude customer service reps. I have been in CS most of my life, and it reallllllllyy irritates me when people are rude to me or treat me like I am interupting them. I think one of the worst experiences I have ever had was at David's Bridal. After arguing with the manager for like an hour because they overcharged me on a dress, I finally asked her to give me a number where I could speak to someone above her. I was so mad, and we were just going around and around not getting anywhere. Anyway at first she refused to give me to anyone else. Then she gave me the number and said, "well, I guess you can call them, if you have some time you want to waste" She was a manager probably in her forties. I couldn't even believe she said that. I mean being in customer service, I have had all kinds of "fun" experiences with customers, but I would never dream of having said anything like that to someone. OOOHHH Meadow of the hates recieving bad CS class.

You should wash everything in cold. Put light colors with eachother and dark colors together. Then you should get a big bouquet of flowers and buy something real nice for your wifey, and do not forget to tell her how lost you are without her when she gets home.

JWs compared to Raelians- ABC News
by Gerard in"many religious scholars, though, see a broader definition of religion and the raelians fit it, they say, just as scientologists, jehovah's witnesses and mormons do.

Believe extraterrestrials created humans. The Elohim will not come back to Earth until there is world peace and an embassy has been built in Jerusalem.
I think the above is the scariest thing of all about this crazy guy. Doesn't the bible say that the antichrist will sit in the temple and declare himself God?

My husband threw me a surprise B-day party at our favorite restaurant. He wrote me a poem and everything. It was a huge surprise and so wonderful. I cried, the whole restaurant clapped. It was great.
