I have a much more charitable heart than my husband. I don't say that to mean that he is a miser, but with him there is always a suspicion of what the person is using the money and if they truly need it. I completely understand this frame of mind, especially since so many have been taken advantage of. I see it a little differently though. We have been extremly blessed, and seldom do without. I try to be responsible with our finances and do not exceed what we can afford to give, but I rarely worry about the money I donate because I feel that what goes around comes around. We are blessed by the blessings we give others. I try to think of all money I give away as money I give to God, and I trust that he will make sure that it gets used appropriatly, and more importantly he knows the intentions of my heart. I do agree also, that sometimes it is better to give items such as clothing or food, if perhaps you suspect they may be spending the money on drugs or alcohol. IMO it's good to give whether it's time, money, prayers, or food.

JWs CAN CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS!
by Sirona inwhen a jw tells you christmas is pagan, therefore you shouldnt celebrate it, you can refer them to this article.
it is discussing wallpaper and other home decorations and what sorts are acceptable.. *** g76 12/22 14 are they idolatrous decorations?
so the christian needs to be primarily concerned about what?

I posted this gem a while back. I know that it is old, but I found it curious that in the "old light" or whatever they call it, that they saw nothing wrong with celebrating the holidays.
1904 "Even though Christmas is not the real anniversary of our Lord's birth, but more properly the annunciation day or the date of his human begetting (Luke 1:28), nevertheless, since the celebration of our Lord's birth is not a matter of divine appointment or injunction, but merely a tribute of respect to him, it is not necessary for us to quibble particularly about the date. We may as well join with the civilized world in celebrating the grand event on the day which the majority celebrate - "Christmas day."" (Watchtower, Dec. 1, 1904, p364)
I guess they now see a reason to quibble

Merry Christmas and God bless you Kelsie.
I understand you must have made a hard choice for you and your family, but it sounds like you have found the true God, and the wonders that come with serving him in true love. I hope your walk continues to grow and that God continues to reveal himself to you, which I am sure he will.

The truth about the first year of marriage
by meadow77 inthe guests have gone home.
you've opened all the gifts.
what surprised you the most about your first year of marriage?.

The guests have gone home. You've opened all the gifts. Now what? What surprised you the most about your first year of marriage?
This was a question asked on Oprahs website after a show revealing the truth about year one for marriage. It seems that everyone is expected to have a great first year where you can hardly take your eyes off of eachother. But more and more people are admitting that the first year was the hardest and most trying. One of Oprahs guest said that the first day of your marriage doesn't truly start until you look at the peerson you've married and think that you've made a hoorible mistake. What do you married folks think. What was your first year like, and do you think we have bought into an unachievable myth about what it's supposed to be like?

I am starting on my snickerdoodles today, I'm glad you liked em Celia. They are the best! XW-mmmmmm-that Prime rib and yorkshire pudding looked too yummy.
here's another one for your sweet tooths.
1 (1 pound) bag of pretzels 1 teaspoon vegetable shortening or 1 tablespoon heavy cream, plus more, if needed 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips 1.Melt chocolate and vegetable shortening in a double boiler over low heat. Stir constantly until JUST melted. Add more shortening, a teaspoon at a time if the chocolate is too thick; it should pour a little faster than maple syrup. When it reaches the right consistency, remove from heat.
2. Dip pretzels one at a time quickly to coat while mixture is still very warm. If mixture starts to harden, stir over a double boiler for about 30 seconds to a 1 minute until melted. Place pretzels on wax paper to set and cool. Immediately dress them up with sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, etc.
3. Let harden in a cool place. The refrigerator speeds the process. Take them out as soon as the chocolate is hard. Store in as cool place or else they will soften.
NOTE: Chocolate will not set well if heated too hot or is too thick. To test, put a thin smear of chocolate on a paper plate or wax paper and refrigerate. See if it hardens (about 5- 10 minutes at the most).
Chocolate Covered Pretzel Recipe

They are fun to make to give as presents. I find that using melted chocolate chips makes the job foolproof. Chocolate chips are already tempered , so you don't have to worry as much about making mistakes during melting.
