As far as the abortion issue, we were just discussing the different aspects of abortion from all viewpoints. And my friend asked if I thought pro-lifers would support killing Hitler as a baby. I think I agree with what has been said here. I don't think two wrongs make a right. I just thought that it is a complex question, considering the incredible suffering which may have been preventable. It could also be looked at ike this, is the good of many worth making the sacrifice for. Is one life worth saving billions?

Murder of child Hitler
by meadow77 insomeone posed this question to me the other day, and i have to say it has really had me thinking.
we were discussing abortion, and they asked me if i would have killed hitler as a baby, knowing what he would do as an adult.
i believe murder is wrong, but do you think it is justified saving others lives?

We were discussing abortion, and they asked me if I would have killed Hitler as a baby, knowing what he would do as an adult. I believe murder is wrong, but do you think it is justified saving others lives? Also, it's a complex question, because it involves the murder of a child, even if it was Hitler. What do you think. Would murder of Hitler as a baby been justified?

Thank you for your responses. I have been talking with some Mormons lately. Not converting mind you, just to chat. As you can imagine, sometimes it's hard to get a straight answer from some people on their beliefs, or better an answer that you can understand. The baptism thing really through me off, because I view baptism as something someone does to be within God's will. I couldn't figure out why they did it, or what made them think they could make that decision for someone else. Thank you for the help.

Are there any Mormons here, or people familiar with Mormon beliefs. I have some questions regarding their doctrine, including baptising those that have passed away. Does anyone know why they do this?

Do you get mad when you post on this site and...
by gilwarrior invery few people, if any, respond to it.
i remember when i first wrote my life story on this website and only one person responded to it.
i remember getting really pissed off.

Gil-this happens to me all the time. Sometimes it really sucks cause you really want to hear other peoples thoughts on something and nobody responds. I think sometimes the time of the post has a lot to do with it. Also what people are in the mood to read. It can also get irritating when you feel like you wasted your two threads for the day on stuff no-one cared about and then you have another idea but can't post it. Then there are always the times I have wanted to post to threads, and been over my limit. Usually, I forget to post to it the next day, or someone else has already said what I was going to. Also being new to the board sometimes I might post things that have already been exausted, but I don't know that, and no-one wants to talk about it anymore. But whatever the reason is, I don't think it's mal intended. I mean look at the trolls. Nobody likes them and they usually get the most responsesBut hey cheer up, it looks like this one is gooing well for ya.

I know that the holiday seasons are over now, but there is something that has been brewing around on my mind. I was watching a news article about an overnight delivery service. They were interviewing a young woman who delivered packages on Christmas day. I assumed she was a dub by her comments, but I could be wrong as that fact was never confirmed by her. She seemed very nice and explained that even though she did not celebrate the holidays, she was happy to deliver gifts to those that exchanged. I thought that was a very nice thing for her to do. Then she said "I celebrate giving and love 365 days a year" UUGHHHKKKK. The very mention of that rubbed me the wrong way, and I have been steaming about it ever since. I am so sick of hearing people who do not celebrate the holidays say things like this. It's as if they are accusing those that celebrate the holidays of refusing to give any other day of the year. I am glad to note that homeless soup kitchens and donations are open year round, donations to charities are given year round, blood is donated year round, and when a family member or friend need to borrow money or any other type of assistance, I don't make them wait till Dec 25th. I wonder if they are trying to make themselves feel better, or what. If you choose not to celebrate, than that is certainly your perogative, but why the need to try and make others out to be bad guys because they do. The world is sometimes not a nice place to be, but there is still love, hope, and charity 365 days a year. Even Performed by those who exchange gifts on Dec 25th.

When is it not worth helping JW's out of the org?
by sleepy in.
being an ex-jw who would love to see my friends and other out of the jehovahs witness organisation i face a dilemma, is it always in a persons best interests to know the truth about the truth?.
when i first decided to leave the organisation, i was happy to speak to my family about why i disagreed with the organisation.then about 6 months ago my father was diagnosed with terminal cancer of the lungs (due to asbestos poisioning.if you think the governing body are corupt they are nothing compared to the people who produced this stuff).i have desided it best not to mention anything about the organisation untill my family recovers from my fathers death.. so since then i have not said a word about the "truth".that would be so counter productive to my fathers mental health, his and the rest of the families happiness can be only be found in the hope of a resurection , no matter how unfounded that hope is.. i have bumped into some elders from time to time who are in their late 70's and spent all their adult lives in the truth, how about them?there are many in the congregations suffering from depression and other mental problems, what would our knowledge do to them?should we be taking the intiative to help these out, or could we do more harm than good to them?of course i can't know how knowing what know about the truth will effect some people.will it make their lives better or worse.will it free some to fufill their ambitions and desires living a full and happy life or will others be full of regret , deprestion and sadness, maybe even some would comit suicide.. what part will i have played if its me that persuades them?should i wait to be asked about the organiasion, or should i take the initative, is it really up to me to judge who can "take" it and who can't?

I am a christian, so most of my concern is that these people are being led astray. Most are sincere, and believe they are worshiping correctly. How could they ever know differently if no-one points it out to them. Sometimes though the best thing you can do is plant seeds, love them unconditionally, and continue to be there for them should they have questions. I struggle on a daily basis between trying to plant seeds with my family, and knowing when to back off. It is hard to have so much information, and see people like lambs led to the slaughter. I always suggestprayer too, because no-one can turn hearts like God. In the end it is their decision, but you can feel better about them, by doing what you can. I can see how it would be depressing at first to realize that you had been decieved for many years, but I think in the end, people gain much more than they lose.
