Have you joined another religion?

i don't think i will never join another organized religion.

that being said however, i have enjoyed going on occasion to non-denominational churches, watching the band play music, and the speaker.

if you did or would attend another church regularly, which one would you go to and why?

We sure do "run the gamet" in all our responses, don't we? At first, I was just out of the JW's and feeling very fragile and afraid. After a while I joined the Unitarians, and to tell you the truth, it was really great! Terrific group of accepting, loving people with wonderful principles to live by.

We would probably still be there now if there was a group in the area my family and I moved to. Since there wasn't, we just didn't do anything for a while until a neighbor mentioned the local Presbyterian church they were going to. My husband (an agnostic if anything) and I decided to check it out. As it turned out, the minister is terrific! Understanding and openminded as any I've ever heard of. Most of the church is made up of differing religious backgrounds and almost feels like a non-demominational church.

Sometimes the sermons make me go"hmmm".... but for the most part, we just take advantage of the good christian principles taught there, enjoy all the "fun" stuff the church does and meet a lot of good people to do things with. We are now active in giving back to our local community because of the church, as they are very involved in helping out the needy, the elderly etc. Something I never did as a JW.

I'll tell all of you, it feels good to be normal, to be a part of a community helping church, and to not be too hung up on "the semantics".

since i am new on this forum, just thought i'd share my story.

(though it seems typical on here) born into jw's.

parent's nutty jw friends told them to raise children like nazi's, and not allow them to do anything, or associate with anyone other than jw kids.

Hi Wingcommander and welcome to the site. I'm new as well although I've been "out" of the org for 5 years. It has really been a healing experience for me to read everyone's posts. Hope you will find the same.

my question is, have any of you heard about a group of scam artists going around to the congregations trying to peddle their version of self-healing crap???

this was about 10-12 years ago in the usa.

The sisters were threatened to be df'd? In 1992 our area was was doing booming business with BK and there were camps for and against, but certainly no commitee action. Are you sure there wasn't something more to what those sisters were doing? By the way, I don't mean to completely knock the BK in my posts, it's just that it seems to take a lot of money from people and to be honest I haven't seen it work any miracles.... eating well, excercizing and taking multi vitamins have done as much for me (maybe more) than biokinesiology ever did. And what's with the "three brain" title, is that really what is was originally called?

Well I have to say I have a vengence against flies, swat every one that enters my house. There was an occasion tho that I may have sent an Airdale to his doom when I was about 12 years old. Pettygrudger may remember this story. I had a mutt named Teddy (dog) who was constantly harrased by the neighbors dog Reggie. Reggie would bark nonstop everytime we ventured into our backyard. (He was just on the other side of the wire fence separting the two yards.) He would continually act agressively toward our dog Teddy and his nonstop barking would drive us crazy. One day, I found out he had gotten lose several times and his owners were sick of bailing him out of doggie prison.($100.00 fine at the time) So I let him out of his yard a couple of times and then we never saw Reggie again.

Kind of feel guilty about that now.

Sor what is the difference between biokinesiology and applied kinesiology and kinesiology? Just wondering, cause I'm a little confused. ( been many years since my bio class!)

Hi wing:

welcome to the site. New to it myself as you can see. What you brought up sounds like "biokinesioloy". Our congregation had a lot of folks involved in it too although I never heard of it being backed by the org, think they just told the elders in our cong to leave it alone. The elders had been coorosponding with the GB about it since it created quite a few problems in our area. The stories I could tell you! The multipersonalities and repressed "memories" people were coming up with would stand your hair on end. Actually, one of the things that sent me away from being a good JW happened at a BK (biokinesiology) class I was taking...one "sister" said that she was only going to use it to help her family and other JW's because what did helping others matter, they are all going to die at Armageddon anyway! All the other JWs in the class laughed at her comment and I was so angered by that! Especially since there was a woman in the class who was studying with the JWs at the time. What a great impression on human kindness that must have made on her, huh?

Could tell you more, but suffice it to say, the BK stuff is bizzaro!

For those of you who wondered about the towel over the baby's head: I think it has to do with him not wanting to expose his kids identity to the public. Guess he couldn't help showing off though.
