Jehovah has provided us wonderful food such as Brussel Sprouts for us to enjoy, so there is nothing wrong with eating them. Jehovah has also provided us with the ability to kill animals for food, so there should be nothing wrong with eating them cooked medium rare.

i understand that brussel sprouts r connected 2 halloween and r considered 2 b fertility symbols.. should a jw eat a vegetable assoiceted with a pagan festival?.
on my second point,i have only seen a jw come 2 my door about 4 times in this year,where have they all got 2,i saw the jw who lives across from us ,and she said she hasn't got any magazines,this state of affairs is just not good enough, so if u wt r out reading this post, do get the membership 2 come around more often with their magazines,won't u.

What Double Standards Do JW's Practice?
by minimus inone double standard that always got to me was how a body of elders would talk about how a brother needed to "qualify" for some privilege by being a good example for weekend service and yet a number of elders would hardly ever go out in field service at all!
or how they would use 2 hours to literally gossip about everyone in the congregation, and then give a local needs talk on the need of not talking about the brothers and minding our own business.........what double standards got to you?

What I never understood was that you weren't suppose to have a beard, because it's unclean, yet in all the pictures in their literature, every man had a beard - including Jesus. I guess Jesus was unclean.
Also, JWs aren't suppose to dwell on material things, but I know of quite a few brothers who would buy a brand new cadillac every 2 years.

Saved from the clutches...
by jws inyesterday, i'm in the hospital waiting room while my wife is having a procedure done.
i sit down and on the end-table across from me is an awake magazine.
not knowing who left it, i didn't pop right up and scarf it up (to be disposed of).. as i'm waiting for the people in the area to clear, a guy a few seats down goes to pick it up.

I've seen this tactic used before many times. My mother always used to leave WT & Awake magazines in the waiting room. I also remember a guy who would go to the pool, and he'd always have a pile of tracts with him. While nobody was looking, he'd place the tract underneath someone's cooler, inbetween the chain link fence, under towels, in the change room, etc. In my opinion, that's littering.

What the WT took from me.. is it gone 4ever?
by LyinEyes ini was raised jw, so i have nothing to go back to as far as belief.
the wt has been exposed to me as nothing but a bunch of lies, coverups, failed predictions, interpreting the bible to fit their teachings etc.
now i stand here,,,,,,,,,,,, with no belief system at all.

My advice? Definately take some time off from religion and such. Put your bible away for now, and focus on getting your life in shape. Set yourself some goals to reach that you never could when you were with the JWs. Go out and explore some things that you would never have been able to do before. It's a great feeling to experience something new. When you're ready, you'll pick that bible up again and do some reading.
One thing that I've learned from my experience, is I still believe in god, but I don't believe in organized religion.

Never experienced being loved by a woman..... I can actually help you out there. There is a site that I visit quite frequently, and it has a great discussion forum that I take part in quite regularily. It's helped out my dating life incredibly. Theocratic Ministry School change

instead of giving the student's grade from the platform, it will now be done in private.
did they finally realize that telling the student that he's getting a "w" is humiliating him, or is there scriptural reasoning for this change?

I'm surprised to see so many here from Canada! Anyone from Winnipeg?
Mouthy: There are reasons for my mother joining the JWs that I have come to understand. She had sexually & physically abusive parents. Also, in her first marriage she was with an alcoholic and an abusive man. I can understand why she's taken such an attachment to the religion. However, the JWs don't help deal with the past, they just pave the way for a "better" future. My mother is very weak minded I've discovered. If she were to come to terms with her past like I have, she would be able to live a better life without the JWs. However, I doubt that will ever happen.
Bluesbrother: That's one thing I never agreed with in the religion. I enjoy all types of music, but I favor heavy metal. I remember talks about how we should avoid bands like Poison, Megadeth, etc. I take it none of them ever listened to the band Poison. I find nothing remotely offensive about them!
I must say, I'm looking foreward to telling some funny stories about things that I've experienced while I was studying. I also have to put a user pic up. I'll choose something very appropriate ;)

I was caught talking to a girl on the phone when I was 14. Pretty bad stuff, isn't it?
My mother picked up the phone and said "Who are you talking to?"
I just told her "My friend Russ"
Her: OkayA few minutes later she picked up the phone again and said "You're talking to a girl!!! You lied to me! When you lie to me, you lie to Jehovah."
This was extremely embarassing to me. The girl dumped me shortly after. :(
