I know this one all too well. I only had 2 friends in the congregation. One is disfellowshipped, and I've come back in contact with him. The other one moved to BC. Around the time I turned 18, I absolutely refused to get close to anyone in the hall. I basically blocked out everyone who made an attempt. There was one brother who was determined to keep me going, and I just kept trying to shut him out. I found myself getting more and more angry with him.

I'm putting a lot of my experiences in my autobiography. It'll probably be finished near the end of this year, and I'll put it up for free downloading off the internet.

Hello uknowthetruth! First of all, I'd like to thank you for hijacking my thread. From your answer, it sounds like Jehovah has helped you cope with all your problems. That's great to hear! Also, I've never been baptized, so you don't have to feel guilty about talking to someone who has been disfellowshipped. Now, onto your comment...

Everyon knows that Jehovah does not place burdens on you he helps you cope with them and allows them to happen inorder to view your faith.

Now, if this is true, Jehovah must have helped me after I left the organization. It literally took me years to realize what had become of me psychologically from the abuse that I had recieved at school. I had psychological problems that would surface whenever someone would stand near me or make a sudden movement. While I was studying, I never could understand why I had this reaction to people. After I left the truth, I understood it and I'm dealing with it much better. My reaction rarely occurs thanks to my total understanding of it.

If Jehovah would have helped me coped with the abuse I was recieving at school, my conscience wouldn't have bothered me when the thought of kicking some ass entered my mind. I never fought back.

As for my spiritual state, I had absolutely no problems in elementary school with any of my peers. I stood out in the hall for O Canada, I didn't participate in patriotic or pagan school activities, and I continued to abstain from these activities when I entered high school. However, when I was in high school, I was progressing very well in the truth - my meeting attendance went up, I became an unbaptized publisher, and I was quickly learning from the incredibly knowledgeable elder who was studying with me. I put my complete trust in Jehovah.

The abuse I was recieving at school was of course brought on by Satan the devil, who was testing my faith at the time, but I remained strong. I prayed to Jehovah frequently to help me through all the kickings, punchings, verbal insults, etc etc. Now, let me ask you, where did the nervous breakdown come from? Where did my psychological problem come from? Why did my psychological problem go away after I left the truth? Why has my confidence in myself gone up after I left the truth?

why does it seem that most of those who came out of the borg are so angry at the world ?

it seems that most have given up faith in god entirely and most are so cold to others especially when others are so in time of need.

just because we left an evil religion does that give us reason to be so hateful ?

I was more bitter when I was in the borg. Today, I think the borg is a joke. I still believe in God, but I don't believe in organized religion.

I think a lot of the reason for people's bitterness is from being decieved for so long. They've wasted many years believing in a joke. I really don't blame them.

Personally, I was never completely bought. I was forced to go to meetings against my own will for 13 years. The truth was never truly in my "heart", therefore I'll be a lot less bitter than many others on here who were completely convinced and devoted. These people were alienated for years from reality. They've come out of the borg, and realized the real life that they've been "protected" from. There's so much that can be accomplished in life, and they've had many years of possible accomplishment taken away from them. They have to start over and learn how to adapt to life in their later years instead of being eased into it from infancy. My heart truly goes out to the people who have realized all of this, and have taken the steps necessary to adapt to real life.

Some people will say "get over it", but you can't quickly get over deception from people you trusted in for a long time. This takes a lot of years, and a lot of healing, but it can never be truly forgotten. I applaud everyone here who are on their way, or have developed a life outside the borg.

The best thing about singing is the challenge. Singing covers presents a challenge of being able to at least hit all the notes that the original singer does. Once you have that down, you can work on perfecting it, or adding your own style to it. I also love the response I get from crowds. With original songs, sometimes it comes out naturally, sometimes it needs to be worked with. It's always something different.

Writing is more adventurous. I'll start writing lyrics, and I have no clue where they're going to lead. There is also the challenge of picking a particular topic or subject, and writing about it. Trying to fit lyrics with music is also a challenge.

I don't play guitar as much as I used to, but I still pick it up every now and then. I usually just try learning new songs by ear, and occasionally I'll write something.

Just for the record, I can't read music, nor do I desire to learn.

That's an incredibly hard question to answer. In my band, we do hard progressive rock. I also spend many nights at Karaoke bars. I sing heavy metal, hard rock, oldies, and the occasional country song. I love singing Led Zeppelin tunes, they're always challenging and fun to do.

I'm the lead singer and lyricist in a band called "Apathy". I also play a bit of guitar. My fiance sings in a band called "Burnbox" and also plays piano & keyboard.
