I thought the dumbest Awake title was "1914 - The Generation That Will Not Pass Away"
...or was that a Watchtower title?
i hold in my hand the nov. awake magazine entitled "technology - blessing or curse?"..
now, i understand the need for balance and moderation in using technology, as the magazine says - but could they come up with a more intelligent sounding title?
it makes the question sound as if abandoning technology might be a solution, a considered choice, a real possibility.

here is a scan from the dec 15 09 wt (study ed) with a graph of how a witness should apportion their time to remain joyful.. .
so according to this graph, to remain joyful a witness should spend 3 times as much of his waking hours in 'theocratic activities' as he should in secular work!
hopscotch.
Those six chunks are all the same size.
Meeting time = work time
In other words, you should only work 4 hours a week. If I worked 4 hours a week, I would be grossing somewhere around 140 bucks every two weeks. That's $280 per month. How much of that should go in the contribution box?
You'd have to eat your magazines to stay alive. I guess that's where the term "spiritual food" comes from.
2009 sing to jehovah lyrics--pdf----by request!
request from researcher: i heard about this file but never received a copy and wondered if you had it.
can i get a copy?
Ah, the new "Sing to Jiggyboo" book and soundtrack.
My question is... if you sing the OLD praises to Jehovah, is he gonna get pissed off because it's old light? Or will he still appreciate that you are praising him? If that's the case, then why have the old songs been retired? Why don't they just add to the praises so there's more selection?
It really doesn't make sense that they chopped the praises down to nearly HALF of what they were. Well, it does if you're thinking about cost-cutting
i still can't believe it.
she was here for the bbq, we had an awesome time, laughing, her telling stories from our childhoods.
i gave her a hug and told her i loved her before she left.
I am so sorry to hear this. Please take care of yourself in this difficult time.
i can't take credit for this but here is a list of songs in the new songbook and comparisons to old songbook.. .
new song # and title old song # notes.
004 - making a good name with god 037.
Anyone have a list of the songs that got the axe? Might be an indication of things to come. I'd put a list together, but my songbook went missing 13 years ago :)
But damn, the GB have exposed the songs to radiation, and many have morphed into shells of their former selves. What a hack job. If you're gonna write a new song about a particular subject, write a complete new one. I wonder how many will be singing the old lyrics and messing up the rest of the congregation for the first while.
Someone NEEDS to record the first time singing one of the new songs. I wanna hear how badly it's butchered.
i'm starting this thread for fun.
and to let us blow off some steam, too.
most of us spent years or decades in an organization that hurled tons of invective against their "enemies" (everyone else was their enemy).

i am really curious to hear the discs.
the reviews have been excellent!.
Remasters are overrated. Just pump your old Beatles albums through an equalizer, adjust it to the way you think it sounds good, and voila! The Beatles remastered! Oh yeah, don't forget to jiggle your volume control once in a while to simulate tape dropout from 40+ year old master tapes.
I'd prefer to see much of the albums out there with the individual tracks stripped down, remastered, and then remixed instead of just farting around with a digital EQ.
Also, if you're downloading a remastered album to hear how good a job they did, you're entirely missing the point. The low end and high end get chopped with MP3 encoding. If you REALLY want to hear what they did, you need to buy the CD from a store.
well some of you arent in the truth anymore, either left,df or da....so who's been out the longest???
and how many had the priviledge of going pio school?.

My last meeting was on August 15, 1996, so I've been out a total of 13 years.
Angel eyes, I honestly don't know how you get on with such faith. Many times, I prayed to Jehovah for help when I was getting the shit beaten out of me. All I got in return was a bad case of PTSD and a nervous breakdown. After that, I started learning that I can't rely on Jehovah for help and that I needed to help myself. I slowly learned how to stand up for myself and not let anybody walk all over me. Now, my PTSD rarely affects me, I'm much more confident, happier, less stressed out, and I owe it all to leaving the JWs.
And Pioneer school? Hah! I couldn't even bring myself to get baptized after I was shoved into becoming an unbaptized publisher. My record maximum of hours was 9 per month. When I didn't have any hours, I made up for it by witnessing to my cat. At least he wasn't eligible for a bible study :)
i was watching steve martin "leap of faith" pg rated mind you with some witnesses.
he plays a fake faith healer.
their were a couple swear words, and the brothers asked me to switch it off.. same thing happened with christine applegate movie {pg 13} "don't tell mom the babysiters dead.
I had brought over the Bob & Doug McKenzie album. I thought he would get a kick out of it because it was funny. After about the third skit, he shut it off without saying a word why.
