I haven't posted here in a couple of years at least, and just popped in to see what's new. I saw the thread about his cat and had to look into it. I'm so damn upset to see that he ended his own life.
Rest in peace Oompa.
Fuck you Watchtower

hey all!
i haven't posted here in forever.
there hasn't been a reason to.
Hey all! I haven't posted here in FOREVER. There hasn't been a reason to. The JW crap has been pretty much absent from my life with the exception of a few small things.
Anyway, last week, me and my girlfriend took a trip to visit my brother in Saskatchewan. He is not a JW, but his wife and mother-in-law are. It's also unfortunate that his daughter is also a JW and just recently took a tour of the US Bethel. My nephew on the other hand wants out of it, and doesn't believe any of it. He told me "God doesn't want us to kill people, but he is going to destroy people at Armageddon. How friggin' stupid!" At least he gets it. I love my niece to death and wish she would get out of the damn cult.
Anyway, a couple of things happened. The first was when my gf and my niece got into a discussion about skirts. She started saying "I don't wear anything above my knee. I've chosen to avoid that because it's more modest. That pissed me off, and I piped up, "That isn't your choice, that's what the Watchtower told you!" She was kinda shocked and had nothing to say to defend herself, and the topic was dropped.
The second thing that came up was when we had decided to make home-made pizza. Me and my gf volunteered to go shopping for the ingredients. We were warned to only pick up certain brands of meat such as Schneiders, because many brands of meat include meat by-products. My gf thought this was due to allergies, but I cleared it up, telling her that JWs believe that meat by-products = blood, which they can't eat. She was dumbfounded by this! My sis-in-law went on about how some places do not bleed the meat properly blah blah blah. My gf was restraining herself from getting into an argument about that being a bunch of horseshit, but didn't. I was also biting my tongue from getting into this issue. I just smoothed everything over by saying "No worries, I know how to check the ingredients for by-products" and we left it at that.
So we go to the deli to get some pepperoni, and I asked for a list of ingredients which I got. Yay! No blood in the pepperoni! My sister-in-law won't be destroyed at Armageddon, although she should since she's a cheating bitch. Plus she's a closet smoker, although she had no problem smoking in front of me. Let's see... it's wrong to eat blood but it's okay to smoke cigarettes. Damn hypocrite.
Anyway, I chose to respect their stupid JW wishes because it was their house.
something i've never understood.
could someone please explain this to me and finaly answer this nagging question?.
A blog is basically a simple online form that allows you to easily create your own website. It is also a place where you can write about anything you want. If it's interesting enough, other people will visit and read it. It doesn't have to be like a personal journal or diary. If you keep your audience in mind when you're writing in it, they will continue reading it.
Here's mine:
i'm a long-time lurker (and hopefully successful fader) who finally took the jump and registered on jwd.
thank you all for the great information over the years!.
as you can tell by my username, i'm a big weezer fan.
I may end up buying that album just for the cover art alone.
hey all, i haven't posted in quite a while.
life has been quite interesting over the last few months.

Hey all, I haven't posted in quite a while. Life has been quite interesting over the last few months. A couple of you may know that my marriage has gone for shit. When I started to suspect something wasn't right, I looked into it. She had purchased a set of ice skates and had been going to ball hockey with her best friend's husband. Generally, her spending a bit of time didn't bother me, but to have these new-found interests that were contributing to her (already) lack of attention to me and our son? Something was up. I knew it was. I've been through this kind of thing before. Drastic changes in a marriage mate are tell-tale signs that something's going on.
She gave me one of her passwords once for something, and i figured I'd see if I could find anything in her email. Now, when you go into your wife's private emails, you're supposed to come out feeling guilty for invading her privacy because you didn't find anything. Not the case here. I found emails about her putting her tongue on her friend's husbands... well, I don't need to get into detail. It was digusting. I also found emails of how they were both sneaking around on their respective mates (me and her friend) and how she was planning to start a new life with this guy.
The good thing is I caught this quite early. As far as I can tell, I found out about all of this about 10 days after it started. But the damage was done. I decided to end it, but knew I had to be cautious. Before I said or did anything, I made contact with a lawyer and got some legal advice. I decided not to confront her about the cheating and instead used that as validation that she wanted out of the marriage, as I did too. Eleven days after I found out (and it was a VERY trying 11 days) I ended it. During those 11 days, I had to take our son to the hospital - the SAME hospital where she was visiting her sick boyfriend. The night I ended the relationship, she had him over while I had my usual Saturday night out. I came home to his laundry in my washing machine and my computer having been tampered with. Enough was enough, and that was the night I ended it.
She's moved out now and the seperation agreement is signed. We are splitting time with our son down the middle (although my new girlfriend has pointed out it's more like 60/40 in my favor). What a ride. I'm never getting married again.
As a side note, her boyfriend's ex wife is still friends with me. We have yet to go out for coffee, and I have yet to show her the screenshots of the emails.
name some posters you haven't heard from in awhile and wondered what happened to them.. whatever happened to...........?.

I've been just lurking for the last little bit. Lots has happened in my personal life lately. It's really juicy! I'll be posting about it soon. Stay tuned...
if anyone has found a good music album produced in the last 2 or 3 years, put it here.. my nomination: '3 doors down' self-titled album released 2009; and it's hard rock..
I think the most recent album that I've been enjoying is Travis - Ode to J. Smith which came out in '08.
I absolutely love the first song:
dear brothers,.
please include the reminders below in the nro (new resurrected ones).
2-year review meeting.
When did the JWs start admitting that Paradise Erf is going to suck ass? Not much to live for: No internet, no TV, no meat, no practical jokes. Just gardening and petting lions.
i was thinking of a few celebrities i have met over the years -.
neil diamond, matt damon, terry bradshaw, robert downey jr to name a few..
Kenny Shields from Streetheart
Darby Mills from The Headpins
Joey Gregorash
There's probably a few others that I don't remember.
was reminiscing with a friend on facebook about our past and the thread concerning windows 7 got me thinking about the hours i spent writing programs for my trash 80 computer.
any other nerds like me who miss the old hardware?.
or does anyone miss anything from their younger days (not necessarily computers)?.
I loved the heck out of my C-64. I spent hours writing programs. It also had better color, better graphics, and better sound than the XT which sat in the other room collecting dust. I've since replaced the C-64 with a C-128 which I still occasionally pull out to play with.
My first computer was a TRS-80 Model I. I've also owned the Commodore Vic20, and the Coleco Adam which was a cool machine, even though it was pretty buggy.
I actually got into the habit of collecting old computers. I've got a bunch of old apple computers, a TI99, and a couple of pocket computers which look like calculators, but are fully programmable in BASIC.
As for BBSes, I ran one and I've been debating putting it back up via telnet.
