Slightly OT:
From the Beeb message board: "In recent years they have begun calling themselves Christians, when in the past they have done their best not to use the term."
Anyone remember that? I'm sure in the 1980s I was told to answer "No, I'm a Jehovah's Witness" if anyone asked if I was Christian. -

Anointed Sealed...
by zeroday init has been over 70 years since the anointed number has been sealed.
assuming those anointed were of reasoning age when the number was sealed and the great crowd came into play, how long will the fds stick to this reasoning that the anointed still exist.
or will there be "new light" as in the 1914 understanding.

There were only two Annointed in the congregations I attended, both lovely and sincere elderly women.
I've of the opinion that all Christians ought to be partaking and it's the "Great Crowd" JWs who deny it who are the dingbats. :) -

Did it with Jesus - Now the WTS is sidelining the Bible
by hamsterbait inhas anyone else noticed how more and more in studies and other articles the wt no longer sticks only to the bible as its authority?.
they criticised the rc for quoting the catechism to settle matters of doctrine, yet more and more i notice points 'proved' by:.
"note what the watchtower says".

An elder said to me yesterday (after I'd said I'd only ever want to study the Bible, not the literature - this was the major sticking-point when mum dropped me right in it with a JW last year and I ended up with a study) and he said without an ounce of irony:
Well, I suppose you *could* have a Bible Study using *just* The Bible."

Oh this is hilarious. (Not in a haha at Quotes way!) Oh let 'em try it. I'm sure the papers will be interested in this - anyone contacted the Guardian? Ex and Anti-Scientologists get sued all the time - maybe approach one of their webmasters (that Xenu site's webmaster) for advice on how to get the word out.

Funny that Hibiscusfire didn't copy and paste this one:
"By Natalie Bishop
Centuries have passed, time has flown by, and many Christmas celebrations have come and gone. Christmas is a holiday that originated to commemorate Christ’s birth, which is why many feel disturbed with the replacement of “X” for “Christ” in Christmas.
Although some take offense at the X-ing out of “Christ” in Christmas, others see it as a mere abbreviation. “X,” in the Greek language, was used to represent the word “Christ.” Therefore, this abbreviation would seem to be appropriate. The uninformed individual, without knowing this fact, could be offended.
Christians are aware that there are many in this country trying to remove religion from daily life. Prayer and the Ten Commandments have been removed from schools and activists have attempted to take “One Nation, Under God” out of the roots of America.
Is it any wonder that “X” in place of “Christ” causes a stir?
Personally, it seems logical to abbreviate “Christ” with “X” as long as your focus is in the right place. I find myself seeing no difference in the meaning of the two words. They both bear the same significance in honoring one of the most awesome gifts God has given mankind.

Hibiscusfire, you said this:
"“X-mas” is meant to share season’s greeting to all races, cultures and religions. (snip)"#
And the whole post came from here: http://www.goodnewsetc.com/123TS1.htm
And was written by "Victoria Barboza is in 9th grade at Midway Baptist School in San Diego."
"Christmas is one of the most enjoyed holidays of the year. To me, as well as other Christians around the world, this season continually reminds us of the day Christ was born. (snip)"
Is from the *same* webpage and was written by "Ezraley Samala is a 9th grade student at Bay View Christian Academy in San Diego."
This webpage is about young peoples' thoughts and feelings about "Xmas", if either of the above were originally written by you it would explain a *lot*.
If you *aren't* just a troll (*cough*), then stop plagiarising ridiculously unimformed points of view! Can't you be *ignorant* using your *own* opinions?! -

In the word "Christ" the "i" is a hard sound. So if ill-informed people want to "keep Christ in Christmas" then shouldn't they pronounce it "Christ Mass"? After all, that's what the *Christian* winter celebration is...
