Do you love Jesus? Did He die for *you*?
Do you realise you are a sinner and require Jesus to be your go-between between you an Jehovah to get forgiveness?
Do you realise the JWs teach that you cannot have this vital and special relationship with Jesus?

BESIDES, if this is what make me happy.. I see nothing wrong with it.
But does that make it the Truth?
Pagan celebrations made the Pagan people happy... most Christians see nothing wrong with Christmas and the celebration makes them happy. -

Pagans are not of God.. they are mislead by the devil. Pagan traditions are not of God. :(
Jehovah God only talked to His prophets like Moses, and all of the Bible takes place in only a small region of the world.
What were peoples who spread out across the globe to Europe, or the Americas, or to Africa supposed to do? They didn't have Jehovah telling Moses to write the Bible to tell them how the world was made, why there is death, and how they should worship. So for *thousands* of years, if not millions, people had to work it all out for themselves. -

My parents enjoy that I have found religion..
So are they interested too?
Why would one WANT to celebrate Christmas. JW or not... Christmas has pagan roots.... it would offend Jehovah to celebrate it
Actually, in the northern hemisphere a mid-winter feast and celebration makes absolutely perfect sense.
Imagine it's ancient times in Europe and you live with your family in a little house with a smoky inefficient fire (and burning dung so stinky!), the snow is thick outside, and you still have to take care of your farm animals even at the crack of dawn and even in a blizzard. You work very hard in nasty conditions. Days are getting shorter and shorter. At or around the shortest day wouldn't it be nice to have a big festivalwith your whole village to *cheer yourselves up* and remind yourself that the days will start to get longer again?
What do you think Pagan means? -

It wasn't really naughty but it felt naughty at the time - the district convention was in my city, and at lunchtimes I got the bus outside the stadium and went home to let the dog out for a wee!

Poor little lass, absolutely hideous what happened to her. I hope both parents rot. *Weird* how each time the father whipped 39 times and the mother 20 - how could they be that accurate in a rage.... so it seems that after the inital anger they were both calm enough to follow a routine. So I suppose that means 39+20 was their standard punishment. But *why* 39, what a strange number to pick for repetitions of anything.

Kids referring to older ones as AUNTIE or UNCLE
by lowden ini don't know about other patrs of the world but in the uk, youngsters were expected to refer to older ones as auntie or uncle.
i publicly told my children not to do this, i thought it was reeeeally creepy.
my main reason for this is that i think it creates trust in people that are strangers to the family unit and for some kids, it's part of the grooming process for molestation.

Whilst i genuinely respect the views of the posters that think refering to others as auntie or uncle is 'nice' or 'respectful', they should think of how 'safe' this makes the grooming environment for child molesters to operate in.
Because *every* adult is just *itching* to abuse kids. This is the same sort of thinking that means parents are banned from videoing school Nativity plays.
I hope my friends' kids will call me Auntie. I promise not to molest any of them. -

It's commonplace in the North (Peter Kay even has a bit about it), it's not a specifically JW thing. I think it's polite, a little five year old calling an adult "Brother So-and-so" is creepy. I still call my mum's friends "Auntie".

It looks far far nicer and more practical than spending the District Convention at Sheffield Wednesday or Leeds United's freezing cold/boiling hot (simultaneously!), hard-seated stadiums.
They didn't think security through though - Christians are persecuted in Nigeria.
