At our last CO visit couple of months ago he insinuated that this summer could be our last District convention
The congregation I "should" be attending just had their CO visit recently and an Elder I spoke to just told me the same thing about the Convention being the last one evah. I rolled my eyes as politely as I could and he shrugged and said "Well one of them has to be!" I said "Reaaallly?!" :D
I'm sure a lot of them think it, I'm sure that they think each Convention will be the last, I'm sure they think (as I used to) "What better place to be when the end comes".
It wouldn't surprise me in the least if they declared the Great Tribulation had begun... This System of Thingsā¢ is really starting to drag! :D

Shocking Announcement: Society feels Armaggedon coming this year?
by truthseeker ina rumor alert indeed, but it could be related to the distribution of kingdom news no.37, "false religions end is near.".
the following is posted from e-watchman's forum.. make of it what you will, but in light of all the rhetoric about "deliverance at hand" and "independent thinking", nothing would surprise me anymore.. http://e-jehovahs-witnesses.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1502&st=0 we posted about an announcement it was only local to our cong.
however we have found out that there is going to be an announcement sometime in september and it is supposed to be shocking.

Three months ago one of the GB gave a talk to a select few in Miami in Romanian and revealed the new light and said it will be released soon. The new light is that Jesus has a total of 7 comings in all. This is obviously their attempt to explain the 1914 "coming". That's all I know.
A "select few" and in a foreign language sets my bullshit alarm off... (not saying anything against you! :)).
There's another religion that teaches Jesus came 7 times isn't there - it rings a bell, certainly.
I do love me some wacky New Light! :D -

Would you have stayed if essential changes were made?
by greendawn inwhen you began doubting the wts did you decide that there was no remedy and you had leave them, or did you say if they change on such and such points i will stay on?
what were those points that if changed you would approve of the jws and stay in?
for me it was not an issue because i wanted to see many changes and they wouldn't carry them out.

If essential changes had been made to the pasedophile policy and I had never found out about the scandal, I would still have been "in". But if essential changes were made then it would just confirm to me now that things were wrong and they're not guided by Jehovah (if proof were needed). One of the big things that, looking back, jarred with me was New Light - if they were led by Jehovah, however their policies were at odds with my personal beliefs then they ought to have stuck by them... Euthanasia for humans, is it right or wrong?
by FreedomFrog inok guys, i'm working on a 1500 word paper for my communications class and it's due in about 7 weeks.
i'm collecting information for my paper.
how do you feel about legalizing assisted suicides for people?

It's disgusting that euthanasia isn't an option to the dying. I want to do what I like/*need to* with my body.

Studying the 'deep' books - it might be the final straw.
by jambon1 ini can remember studying the isaiah books 1 & 2 back-to-back.
during this time i simply never wanted to go to the book study.
it was all so repetative and boring.

Very true - the last time Revelation was done, most people hadn't heard of the Internet, let alone had 24/7 access to it.
There is a danger that the JWs who remember the studies from before will not feel much need to look deeper - they might not look further than their 17-year-old underlining! :D It'll be interesting to see if the Society publishes a new edition - and if people still take their old copies... -

A Chance to Wreck The Society.....
by metatron inif it's true that the society is starting a special campaign against "false religion", we may have them at our mercy!!!!!!!!!.
think about it: if they are stupid enough to print some cheap tract that shows churches and 'stars of david' as 'false religion', we may.
be able to cause enormous trouble by sending these to all public agencies dealing with intolerance and prejudice.. more than that, by posing as witnesses, these tracts may be sent to various people and groups with accompanying letters.

However, stating "Jehovah's Witnesses teach that God is going to kill you and your children soon if you refuse to become Jehovah's Witnesses," is not only accurate, it is published and public record.
Yep, I totally agree with this.
I don't anticipate the tract will be *anything* other than "Jehovah loves His children and so He wants you to worship Him so you can hug lions for all eternity!" fluff. I don't think they would be dumb enough to put anything inflamatory in the hands of Joe Public. So it's our responsibility to get the truth out to people we come in contact with... is there any place for dishonesty where the *real* truth is concerned? -

We had a tiresome elder and a really quite nice sister over on on Sunday, and he "broke the news" that it's Revelation next. I cracked that maybe the Society could just issue stickers to cover up the Old Light...
They both thought that was a GREAT idea! LOL -

I am begging here, folks. If there is dishonesty afoot in the approach suggested by metatron, please point it out distinctly.
More than that, by posing as Witnesses, these tracts may be sent to various people and groups with accompanying letters
warning them that "God is going to kill you and your children soon!" -

Nor is any deception required - as the Society has said enough , over the years, to bury themselves.
But do they generally directly tell non-JWs that god is going to kill them?
I don't have a problem with making sure non-JWs see what JWs really teach amongst themselves, but it's the "writing as JWs" part that is so daft. If this tract is going to be part of a big push, then it'll find its way into offended non-JW hands anyway won't it?
As I said, let them dig their own hole. Stuff like this just makes us look like nutters and/or shit-stirrers.
