Jesika, thank you for posting this. This is something we all can do, and it doesn't cost alot and it means so much to a child who may not otherwise have xmas. Information about Angels are found in the malls, grocery stores, churches, etc. Christmas is about Giving, and giving to a child in need means so much. I not only think about the children in need, but I also can't help but think about adults in shelters, woman's shelters, etc and giving just a little of we have, even if it's a little of our time to help means so much. What a great thing it would be to bring our children, who receive great gifts from us, to be taken to volunteer for a couple hours or a day helping in a shelter for those less fortunate.

Larc, I have that same hot button you mentioned. Those who try to equate almost everything to JW thinking etc, or WTBTS thinking, is so pathetic. What about just normal, everyday, common sense? Just because many of us have been associated in varying degrees with the JW's, doesn't mean that every aspect of our thinking abilities comes from that experience. I've mentioned this very thing on another forum, and it just irks me when I see posts equating almost everything to JW or WTBTS thinking. So ridiculous.
I've personally known of individuals who've been helped by members of this forum, done privately, out of the goodness of their hearts. Some who were not able to afford to go to the March in New York were approached and offered assistance, plane tickets, etc but all done by offers made and not by asking or begging for handouts. The joy of helping others as we see fit and can afford to is a wonderful thing done by many, and it has nothing to do with JW this or that. So, when people equate common sense thinking to JW-hood, I simply shake my head and try to ignore their ignorance. Some just don't get it, and it's their problem, not mine.

Fine, use whatever terminology you choose. If I *judged* Yizuman, fine whatever. My point is that I find it very odd that someone would come to this forum and within days start requesting money. In many web groups/sites, it is a written rule that no one may ask for money or financial assistance. Now, I don't know if Simon has that written rule here, but that's besides the point. I simply find it strange to ask complete strangers for money, especially when they are so new to the group.
I would completely understand if Yizuman had posted his situation in the sense of inquiring of everyone here if anyone knows of where he can get financial assistance, through government agencies, churches, private organizations, etc. THEN, if anyone here chose to OFFER him assistance perhaps through private email, that would be different and up to each individual. But, to come to a web site and begin directly asking for money, I feel is going too far.
"Defensive" and maybe even Protective of Jesika? You betcha! If I felt that someone/anyone might be a possible threat to someone I care about, you bet I'm gonna speak up! BUYER BEWARE!

Garfield, welcome to the forum! I can only imagine what types of things you've heard so far about jw's, and I hope you will do what you can to read up on the topic. There are numerous topics here having to do with jw's, so please take the time to read as many as you can, and continue to ask questions if you don't understand something. We're all here to help if you need us.

AGuest, who'se "judging"? I haven't judged anyone, I'm simply asking a question and suggesting Reader Beware when people start asking for money. If Yizuman's circumstances are true, then there are numerous social service type places, churches, amongst others where help can be found. I'm SIMPLY saying IMO that it seems rather odd for someone so new to start requesting money, rather than simply requesting information or suggestions of where help can be found.

I just finished reading and replying to Yizuman's post requesting financial help! What?!!! Join a forum like this and within days start asking for money?! What?!!! Does this happen often here? It's the first time I've seen this happen so far, and it really ticked me off! Then for him to bring up my niece Jesika, as far as her being able to vouch for him, that she *KNOWS* him? How the Hell would any of us really KNOW each other on a worldwide web site?! Jesika, girl...........beware!
