Brother is giving the public talk in a Florida KH. We notice a little lizard has made it's way to the platform and has appeared on the wall behind the speaker. Throughout his talk it scampers around here and there, from wall to floor, with the speaker unaware. Eventually, the lizard skittles accross the stage floor getting closer and closer to the speaker. Then it moves to about an inch from his shoe. It looks up for a moment. The speaker's pant leg had an opening at the cuff big enough for the lizard to make it through. That lizard froze there, poised to run up inside the speaker's trousers. It was riviting! Just as the lizard moved onto the speaker's shoe the talk ended and he moved his foot. The lizard scurried away to lie in wait for the WT conductor. They had to catch and remove him from the KH. I don't remember one thing from that talk but I remember the little apostate lizard disrupting the meeting.

What's The STRANGEST Thing You've Seen At A Kingdom Hall?
by minimus ini saw a fight break out on the platform between an elder and a unbelieving husband who accused the elder of f---ing his wife.
he then threw the lectern on the floor and pushed the elder.
it was cool.......

Governing Body vs Watchtower Society Directors
by wisdomfrombelow insince the governing body are no longer officers of the watch tower society who has the real power?
can the governing body "fire" officers and have them removed from bethel by their own power or does it have to be done according to whatever legal regulations there are?
with all their subsidiaries, could the watch tower directors "kick out" the governing body from bethel if they so desired?

Basically, the WTBTS and its directors are just a "tool" of the GB. An insurrection among the ranks is not likely. Even if there was one, the GB would just replace the "trouble makers." They have total control.
"The body has never had a legal corporate existence and operates through the Watch Tower Society and its board of directors."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Governing_Body_of_Jehovah%27s_Witnesses
"Organizational changes at the highest levels of the Watchtower Society in 1976 significantly increased the powers and authority of the Governing Body and reduced those of the Watch Tower Society president."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organizational_structure_of_Jehovah%27s_Witnesses
"In 1976, all activities of the Watch Tower Society were brought under the supervision of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses."

Disassociating
by Godsendconspirator inhey guys.

I believe your original question was - How did some of you go about officially disassociating?
You seem to know what's best for your situation, have made up your mind, and are looking for feedback on writing/submitting a DA letter.
So here's just backstory: in 2012, after about half a year of research I decided to leave the organization. I still wanted to maintain contact with the brothers and sisters though so a year ago, I tried to fade out.
Now I have new real friends who know everything about me and still accept who I am. And I feel now that I weened myself off of these guys, I don't feel like I would be too hurt if I never spoke to them again.
I want them to know the real reason I left, the things I've learned just to get everything out there.
Briefly I'll tell you - Looking back, I realize they had more control over my life when I was in fade mode. After over a year of playing the fading game I composed a letter summarizing my position, with facts to support it. I won't go into my motivation here, but I did want it on the record that I was out. I sent it to the BOE of my cong "in care of" an elder who I thought might read it before presenting it to the body (I mailed it to his home address, not the KH).
NO regrets. Good Luck!

Your views and ideas on forum areas and organization?
by Simon inthis may come as a shock to some people, but the current forum structure was kind of thrown together without much real thought and then evolved a bit over time.
there are a few things that particularly grate on me and areas where i don't think the subjects work particularly well.
'friends' is a bit vague and becomes a dumping ground, news & world events vs politics & current affairs is hard to decide sometimes, child abuse is a scandal but isn't contained withing 'scandals & coverups' etc.... with a new forum platform imminent, it's a good time to solicit ideas to improve things.

Starting new Topic Threads
When someone clicks a link to start a new topic a pop-up window or drop-down list opens with all the available topic categories preset and listed. The user is required to choose the appropriate category from the list to proceed and submit his thread. No cat no post. I think this might encourage better organized topic thread/category relevance, automate things a bit, and make it easier for posters to feed into the system.

Hello and my exit story from WTS
by free2Bme13 ini thought it was fitting for me to share my freedom from the witnesses story on independence day weekend.. i dont have any secret info, just experiences that happened to me and started to open my eyes.. i was a third generation, raised in the truth kid who was never supposed to be born, and then never supposed to graduate high school.
ive now been out of high school longer than i was in school.. the beginning of the end started a little less than a decade ago.
i was late 20s at the time.

Free2Be - Your story is so revealing. You give and give and give, and it's never enough. Where is the christlike personality in these men? NOT! You are so patient. Congrats on your exit!

On being constantly scrutinized by the invisble world of gods and demons
by Terry ina religious person carries with them a concern (reasonably should be concerned) that non-believers do not share.. for the religious believer there is a very real dimension of beings who are actively invasive in human affairs.. these beings are angels, demons, jinns, gods, spirits, ghosts---you name it--scrutinizing our every move, reading our minds (some say) and.
greatly aroused by women in a sexual way!.
indeed, the scriptures do not blush to inform us that angels lusted after women in times past and impregnated them successfully!.

Terry, is he making a list of who's naughty or nice? Does he check it twice? No... wait a minute. That was the freelancer Santa, one of his surveillance subcontractors. Yes the whole thing seems perverse, though as a jw I just could not see it. I cannot defend it.

Angsty post
by zound ini'm not far away from sending out a bunch of letters to all the jw's who i knew when i was one.
the letters are the accumulation of the last few months of research etc.
i've put a lot of effort into wording things just right so that that the jw's don't instantly throw it in the trash.

If you feel the need to do, and you want to do it, and you can do it, I say do it. Just balance your expectations with reality so you will have no regrets. Did you ever consider putting up a free webpage somewhere with your information (if it's not to personal) and providing a link?
Personally - If I had $150 bucks to toss I'd probably buy a poor families groceries, help out a homeless person or something.
