Same thing here. I was baptized, so I'm the one shunned. My husband was never baptized, but his family will still talk to him. It's so hypocritical!!
Glad to be OUT and free!!

with autumn in the air, my thoughts start turning to the holidays ahead.
are any of you doing christmas or thanksgiving?.
i do, but i have to be so careful, incase any jw family would happen to drop by.
Hi ya!
Are you still active as a jw? Why not ds yourself? I did almost 4 years ago, and it's so much better not sneaking around. No guilt. We started celebrating as soon as we were out. It was funny, because since we were both raised as jw's, it was all new to us. But, we have a blast and decorate like crazy!!!! It's refreshing. If you wanna talk more, you can email me at [email protected]
My computer has been down, so I'm just now getting back online. Nice to meet you!!!

Boy! Did you ever get advice!!!! hehehehe!!! I hope you heed everyone's advice. It's all given in love. And we've been there. You might be thinking right now, that you can 'change' him. But, if he's a strong beliver, then you will never change him. I hope you've read all the replies and please take them to heart. What everyone has written is absolutely the truth. Hang in there! At 20, you have a long life ahead of you to find that 'right' man. Don't let your feelings get in the way of good judgement.

i just started posting and have really enjoyed it!
i know i gave the title as halloween.
well, it's because halloween is 64 days away.
It's strange. I talk to others that have celebrate their whole lifes. They have traditions and the holidays hold special meaning for them. A more spiritual meaning that I'm not sure I will ever have.
We do make up our own traditions. We have to! I think that's why we do go overboard every year.
I feel like I have so much to make up for. The kids have missed so many b'days! We have 4 kids too. and the oldest is 16, she had missed the most. But, she's having the time of her life now. And is a wonderful teenager. (thank goodness!) Because had she turned out to be a horrible teen, the congregation would have blamed me for getting out!! well, HA HA!!!

Hi! I just started posting and have really enjoyed it! I know I gave the title as Halloween. Well, it's because halloween is 64 days away. hehehe!! I have enjoyed this holiday so much! I was wondering if any of you have had as much fun as we have. Isn't it nice to enjoy life and not feel guilty or like you're being watched?
I plan on dressing up as Raggedy Ann this year. I'd love to be something really scary, but we have so many little kids that come to the house, I don't want to really scare them. But, we do have a halloween/birthday party for one of our daughters every year. That has really gone over well with the kids. I'd love to hear your experiences with the holidays. Did you have apprehensions? Do you celebrate all the holidays? or are you more reserved about some of them? We jumped in full force!! It did take us 4 years before we voted, but now, it's such a privledge. Anyone that would love an email buddy, write me at [email protected]
I'd love to meet you.

i don't know if this has already been posted (as i don't visit as much anymore).
the wts has changed the info in the faq section of their media site,
http://www.jw-media.org/beliefs/beliefsfaq.htm
So, a disfellowshipped person and one that has disassociated herself, are treated the same. They are shunned. Although, it says that 'one that becomes a drunkered, adulter, etc.......??? Well, I became none of those, just a 'normal' person. I didn't leave to start drinking, doing drugs, committing fornication, etc........I left, because I wanted to lead a normal life. We are still good people. Our kids are being raised wonderfully, with respect for ALL religions, they are going to college and are all A+ students. Isn't it crazy???? they are alot more well-adjusted than I ever was growing up as a jw.

I disassociated myself about 4 1/2 years ago. I am being shunned! I think that if you were baptized and write a 'formal' letter, you are shunned. Because my husband, although, not baptized ds'd himself as well. But, because he never baptized, he is NOT being shunned. It's all so hypocritical, don't you think?
Happy2b OUT!!

has anybody seen this thing?
i couldn't believe their choice of subject matter!
i found out about it on jwzone.org:.
I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm just thankful to BE OUT of such a embarrassing religion. I had been a JW for 36 years. I've been there, done that and am embarrassed by it. I've shunned people that had the sense to become their own person, I didn't go to college for fear of being put down, as a child, I was always the 'different' kid in class. I'm thankful that my children get to lead 'normal' lives. They are well adjusted kids. I feel sorry for those of you that never get to see the 'truth' about what's really going in the organization and, especially at Bethal.
Happy 2 B OUT!!
