TT, Good luck with your uncle. Let us know how it goes.
As far as my family goes, I faded away a long time ago,but I don't know where I stand right now. When my son went to basic training for the army this summer I kind of had to tell them, it was going to come up at some point. "Where is Sean, what is he doing this summer?" So I wrote a letter and told them about it and that I was proud of him and that I supported him and while I was at it I threw in that I had no intention of being a witness again. My mother wrote back that she was sorry about my decision and that they should have stopped seeing us when we first stopped going to meetings years ago. I haven't heard from them since.
I did however get a visit from two witnesses that I assume were elders and I told them basically the same thing. They asked if I had considered writing a letter of disassociation and I told them I was deciding whether that was necessary or not. Before they left they extended an invitation to come back to the meetings and I told them not to hold their breath. That's the last contact I've had but I wonder if they are going to try to DA me without a letter. I've heard that has happened lately. Have you?

TT, I am just at the point of getting to know everyone on the board. You said you were in for 20 years but you look young. Were you raised as a witness? What sort of topics are you going to present to your father? Just things about the child molestation or other things? I am thinking about doing something similar with my mother and father. I was going to keep my mouth shut because they are elderly and it's their whole life but things that have happened lately have made me really mad. I guess I'm feeling the need to punch a few holes in their beliefs. Maybe I can wake up someone in the family. els

Comments That You Will Not Hear at the WTS 9-22-02
by blondie inwt study for the week of september 16 to 22, 2002. stirred by "the magnificent things of god"acts 2:11. snippets of scriptures abound in this weeks lesson starting with the theme scripture.
it is interesting what the wts thinks are "the magnificent things of god.
" acts chapter 2 records the events concerning the founding of the christian congregation, the giving of holy spirit to those gathered with the outward sign of speaking in tongues.

Aren't pantie lines sloppy, untidy or unkempt? A nice thong would prevent that. els

CC, We always take the car cause we have so much stuff to take usually. My inlaws are elderly so we do alot of upkeep on the house for them. We plan to move, probably to CN so we will be closer to the island. Right now it's a 5 and a half hour drive to get to the ferry. The house will eventually belong to my husband and his brother so it would be nice to be closer. I would love to live there when we retire so the stock market had better cooperate. LOL What is your favorite beach there? els

Sex Scandal in Montana
by silentlambs init has been brought to my attention that there may be a major scandal working in the billings montana area.
it involves more than ten elders in a motel room at the district convention this summer and 14-16 year old girls.
my information source says there is more to come with possible charges being filed, but key jw's work for social services there and are involved in the investigation.

Block Island is actually part of Rhode Island. I am from upstate NY. We go to the Island from Point Judith, RI. But there is a ferry from Montauk in the summer. els

I have voted for the first time in my life!
by GermanXJW intoday is a historical day for me.
today i got up early but instead of going to the kh as i used to for years, i went to the election office to vote in the current election for the german bundestag.. for years, i had a political opinion and hoped that "my" representative wins.
this time i did my part to ensure this by voting.. it is a strange feeling: being part of this system.

Hooray for you! I think the hardest thing to get over is being afraid of what people will think. It's funny how that feeling clings to you even when you know what you are doing is right and their judgement is wrong. I have been thinking about registering to vote. It's about time that instead of just not doing what they want, I started doing what I want to. Thanks for your veiwpoint. els

The thing that pissed me off the most ever was when my older brother got reinstated and then showed up at my house to tell me I should come back to meetings. This is the brother that drank like a fish for years, emotionally abused his wife, was hardly aware of his children and caused our parents all kinds of heartache. When I was a teenager I used to go to his favorite bar after school and drink beer and play pool with him, which he never ratted me out for. But when I was engaged, my fiancee would stop where I worked and we would walk 50 feet down the street to have lunch and walk back. He found out through his wife who worked with me and he told the elders. This was when he was disfellowshipped and I was a witness in good standing. I got counseled for going without a chaperone. So years later his wife finally leaves him for good and he decides to quit drinking and ends up in rehab. During this time he asked to see me so I went and visited him. I even went late at night, it was 1and a half hours away to get him because his father in law was dying and he wanted to see him. Six months later he is reinstated and has the nerve to come preaching to me.
Wow, that was more than I meant to say, guess I'm still a little angry. els -

"Hi Mom, this is your 'wake-up call.'
by TuningFork ini'm coming in here this morning because even though i am learning not to be a victim in this shunning experience "again," i do have feelings and am very sad this morning.
you see, usually about every two weeks or so (at least), i would call my mom early in the morning and say, "hi mom, this is your wake-up call.
" little did i know just how much energy was carried in that message.

TuningFork, That is so strange. My sister cut my hair when we were little. She however was not doing a good job. I know because my mother caught her and took a picture. At least I didn't have beautiful curls. I'm glad you mentioned that story, it will give me a memory of a happier time to take to bed. I'll definately be around with more to share, I'll watch for you. els.
