If he is a good and faithful witness he should be perfectly happy with the association he has. I think he is on that site looking for something or someone, maybe you. I say go for it. els

Dating, and JW Teenagers
by NaomiB inwhy do you think that there are such extreme rules regarding flirting and dating even within the walls of the organization?
do you think there's some psychological reason?
how does this benefit the ones at the top, or the hold on the rank and file?

I was not an exemplary youth. I managed to have several boyfriends, some I managed to hide, a couple I got in major troubls for. My sister on the other hand is 43 now and I don't think she has ever held hands much less been kissed. I would like to ask her if she lays awake a night and wonders if she has wasted her life and if she will ever have a man or get married. els

Randy, You're going to have to give me a little more info. Your description sounds like every guy at every assembly. lol. I'm not sure you would have noticed me though. I had these horrendous coke bottle glasses till I was 17 and got a job and bought contacts with my first paycheck. I did have a pretty good figure though. I was the youngest of 7, short light brown hair when I was a teenager, brown eyes, 5'7'. My father was a ministerial servant, he handled book sales behind the counter. els

SLOAN, I actually do like him, just wondered what he got into. I have a 16 year old cat that doesn't do much of anything and about a week ago this little orange kitten got dropped off here. He's kinda like your cat and we keep saying "What the hell is that crazy cat doing now?" The old one hates him. els

Randy, I think your email is great. My parents don't have a computer so I have been thinking of sending them a postcard every week with just one question or comment on it. Just some little thing to make them think. it might make them angry but they aren't having anything to do with me anyway so what difference would it make.
For some reason your name sounds familar to me. I grew up in Granville, NY which is just over the border from Vermont, about half an hour from Rutland. We usually had our assemblies in Vermont. My maiden name was Elsie Shaw. I was born in 1960 and was a witness till 85 or so. Sound familar? els -

I AM SAD AND NEED SUPPORT
by Scarlet inmy family has decided to shun me.
last week my brother and my husband got in a heated debate and finally my brother asked him why he doesn't believe in the jw's and he said because there religion is based on a lie.
well my parents found out and now have decided the best thing to do is shun me.

Scarlet, I totally understand how you are feeling. My entire family started shunning me at the end of June. I haven't seen or heard from any one for over 4 months. The first two months I cried all the time. I didn't want to get out of bed in the mornings and nothing seemed right in my whole world. It has gotten better though. This place has been wonderful. It helps so much to know others are going through the same thing. Most days now I'm OK, I actually enjoy life again, although I still have times when I'm extremely angry or sad. I was driving home tonight after a long and busy shift at the restaurant and I thought "I'm so tired" and just for a split second I thought about calling my mom and whining a little. Then I remembered and I cried the rest of the way home. Then I got on here and and started reading posts and some are sad but others are happy or goofy or something else and I have forgotten about being so sad. Hang in there, email me if you want, my address is in my profile. ((((((Scarlet)))))) ,els
