I've never been a Witness.
Every person in the real world that I know of view JW's as sales people.
Most realize they're a cult, however, they don't realize how deep it goes and how dark it is.
so, i'm sitting in a bar, having a drink.
the bar participates in taptv, an online trivia thing.
the question that came up was, "what did jehovah's witnesses call themselves before 1931".

For lurkers who are in a similar situation, or JW's in general, please examine these sites:

so last night they played the convention cartoon.
there were a few laughs from the audience, overall though people seemed a little taken aback and tight lipped.
like no one gushed about it afterwards, no applause, just like it was nothing new at all.
when we decided to accept the jws something drew us to them perhaps the belief that they had the truth and they could provide a refuge from the so called armageddon.
or it could be the need to belong somewhere or to associate with (ostensibly) spiritual people as was the case with me.
but why (unlike many other interested persons) did we miss the many rather obvious signs that there was something fundmentally wrong with this organisation so as to save ourselves a lot of trouble in the future when deciding to leave it?

to funny nice job....
From an outside perspective of someone who's never been a JW, I have a hard time understanding how voicing what ever it is you want to voice in a destructive mind control cult ritual, would be considered rude or disrespectful.
That being said, the way they chose to go about it is in a sense making a mockery of not only themselves, but the seriousness of the harm the cult causes. The end result does give the WT the upper hand.
There was a man who went inside Kingdom Halls protesting against pedophilia. The way he did it was powerful and had the ability to make an impact in my opinion. It certainly left me in tears after watching those clips. I agree with posters who say they should have chosen a more powerful stance versus teenage antics.
i have always thought that the members of the governing body are just a decorative elements in the visible cusp of the organization.
i have read conspiratorial topics about who really rule, but they are not visible.
the shareholders of the corporation?
I strongly believe it goes much deeper than the appearance of it all; that it is led by the super-elitist. That all cults, especially the major ones such as Scientology, Mormon, and Moonies are rooted back to the super-elite.
As far as Ray Franz not mentioning anything in his book - he also didn't mention sexual abuse, so I don't feel he was sharing the whole picture. What if one of the reasons he left was finding out it was led by a certain group of people, yet he didn't have the evidence needed to include it in his books, or he feared mentioning them directly?
I wouldn't put this "idea" past them as many of you were once in a place where you felt it was "the truth".
this is involving a loved one who's a survivor of child sexual abuse who's life has been ripped apart by the wts.. i'll reword "survivor" to victim as he has gone in and out several times and is in currently.
the offender is still a good standing jw yet in a different congregation.he was disfellowshipped in his teens by the way, so it's harmed him even more psychologically.
which will have more of an impact in helping him realize the issue is coming from the top where they are intentionally hiding it?.
The amount of new information that's coming out on a weekly basis it seems is quiet overwhelming. The most disturbing part of it is WT talking from two sides of their mouth. That in itself proves to me they know absolutely what they are doing, and it's clearly self serving versus actually caring about the average rank and file. Like a two faced villain you'd see in a movie.
Thank you for your comments.. At this point what's most important is his awareness/Knowledge of what's truly happening. That these villains are not on his side. Then it's up to him what he does with it. From my end, the key is getting him to watch at least one of the videos. I will send the letter as well.

Hello everyone,
This is involving a loved one who's a survivor of child sexual abuse who's life has been ripped apart by the WTS.

I've had a few helpful suggestions via pm's so far and would like to hear more thoughts.
Thank you.
in a recent thread someone mentioned that the wtbts uses mind control techniques.
do you think this is a conscious ploy?
if it is it would mean that the leaders of my religion (i am still an active jw) set out consciously to control people.
Research Cult Mind Control. Research Scientology, Mormons, and other mind control cults. Same tactics.
From an outsiders perspective looking in, they know exactly what they are doing. It's one thing to be a cult leader of a small group and to genuinely believe what you're spreading. It's a whole different ball game to be mind control cult leaders of a large group of people. You have to know what you're doing, to carry it forward for so long and with the amount of people under your control. With power and money, calculative strategy comes into play.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are a group of people behind these mind control cults or mind control cults in general, who got the ball rolling and then split it into different cults. The root, being traced back to these people.
