Do You Believe A Person Has The Right To Die?
by minimus inor do you think that a person should continue to be made to "live" even though they are in a vegetative state?

As many know this is a sore spot for me if you will....
If the question is...a person who is terminally ill with no hope of treatment or recovery...then yes...I support the decision to die.
If however someone is somehow disabled through stroke, accident, becoming paralysed, etc....then my opinion differs. A person like me, who has been disabled since birth accepts our disability because it is all we know. There are cases when disabilities are degenerative and grow progressively worse, like mine. I think in some of those case when the pain or other issues reaches an unbearable state, I would also support the decision to die.
If however someone is newly disabled there is a natural period of grieving. Grieving for the loss of their former "normal" life. This grieving process must be allowed to takes its course for the person to make a rational decision based on facts and not heightened emotions and false stereotypes. The "better dead than disabled" belief is false and there are huge range of opportunities for people with disabilities in our time. Continuing education, employment, sports, even extreme sports....but most people can not see the possibilities when they are first disabled. Once this grieving process is completed and they can see all sides...while I may not agree, I would support their right to decide for themselves.

We love ebay....we live in a pretty small area and store selection is limited so Ebay is great for finding just the right gift for the boy to add to his Star Wars or Lord of the Rings collections. Also good for fing that one thing you remember as a kid that you wish you'd have saved for your kids.
The mailman laughs at us because there are always packages coming for one of us....
Only a couple of bad experiences....mostly when we try to sell stuff...and never for a large amount of cash so it is more of a headache than anything else....there are some wackos out there....
Pay attention to the feedback and read the fine print....you'll usually do fine.

Is obesity a disability?
by Sadie5 inhi all, just dropping by and throwing out a question or two.. two of our department managers are both very obese and therefore cannot do all the tasks that their positions require of them.
as a result of that, the peak time workers, those working while the store is most busiest, end of doing a lot of the physical work they leave for us.
it gets pretty hectic when people are trying to shop and we are getting out ladders and stocking shelves.

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) "Obesity" is not considered a disability...however if there is a medical condition that is causing the weight problem that might be covered.
re; the employee with a learning disability....they are clearly protected under the law and if they are being denied promotion opportunites because of their disability they should seek legal advise. Management should be ashamed if they are acting this way and even, as you said, making a joke out of her desire to be promoted.

Birthdays are a good memory
by Big Tex inyesterday was my son turned 9 years old.
he's going to have his birthday party this saturday but we took him out last night for his birthday dinner (he chose red lobster).
he had been dying to see what we had bought him for his birthday and begged (with those big puss n boots eyes) to open "just one" present yesterday morning.

My son will be 7 in May...he is a HUGE star wars fan so he thinks that part of his present is camping out on the sidewalk to be one of the first to see the new star wars film here in town. While we do plan on doing that...we wanted to do something really special since he became a big brother this year and has done such a great job helping and sharing mom and dad.
SOOOO...we're taking him to Disney World for a "Star Wars" weekend at the end of may....we've made all sorts of special plans with the resort for his birthday and he should go totally ape. He is even going to be "picked" to attend a special Jedi Training Academy that will end with him having a lightsaber duel on stage with none other that Darth Vader !!! LOL He's gonna crap !

How do you women feel about acting stupid to please men and the borg?
by Dragonlady76 inthe quote below was part of a talk in the 90's.
i heard this as a child and thought to myself, how can any woman accept such a draconian veiw?
i was not sure if i had understood correctly so, i brought it up to my bible study conductor maggie, i was appalled that she agreed with this veiw, we debated it back and forth, until i got the upper hand, then she told me that i was to "rebellious and strong willed", and that i "should never get married", that i way i would not have to submit to male "headshit" "headship".

Another quick male point of view....
One of the primary things that attracted me to my now wife (beyond the physical attraction) was her attitude. I called her by the pet name "Matilda" (no reason) but she is affectionately known to me and most everyone else we know as "Tilly the Hun" because she is a strong willed, self assured, powerful woman. She was NEVER a jw nor would she ever have put up with their thinking.
The first time we met she looked at me and said..."I've heard all about you...and I'm not taking any of your sh*t"......it was love at first sight. LOL
We work as a team, each with our strong areas but I love her firey side (red heads are like that) LOL - and she does have her submissive moments too but they are usually involve more role playing than reality.
I wonder how the statistics would work out on exjw men and the type of women they now find themselves attracted/attached to ? Perhaps another thread idea.
